This year’s FCAT-related cuts are saving the state about $18-million, according to Florida Department of Education projections requested by the Gradebook. That includes $1.2-million for eliminating the summer FCAT retakes and $1.3-million for scrapping the FCAT Parent Network. We reported on those cuts in this post yesterday.
DOE officials said the projected cost savings are for 2008-09 only and are based on estimates cited by testing contractors.
Among the other savings: $11.5-million for eliminating the FCAT norm-referenced test and $1.2-million for eliminating the multiple-choice section for the FCAT writing tests. To see the list of cuts, click here. To see the projected savings, click here.
