Fisher: Ponder gets his best grade yet
His stat line didn’t look all that good (10 of 22 for 119 yards and one interception), but quarterback Christian Ponder received his highest grade of the season, offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said.
"Sometimes, playing quarterback is not always throwing touchdowns. It’s not always making spectacular plays. It’s making the consistent plays,’’ he said. “It’s getting us in and out of the right plays, (making) right checks. … In the first half, he had some chances, but he was a little antsy. He fought through those demons and in the second half, really came out and controlled the game mentally and physically by decision making and good throws.’’
Meanwhile, defensive tackle Paul Griffin and running back Marcus Sims are expected back this week after completing their suspensions for their involvement in the academic misconduct scandal.
