Welcome to our weekly "Army Wives" live chat and viewing party.
We'll see you here between 9:45 and 11:30 tonight to chat about the show, or just life in general. Share your thoughts in the comments section, and be sure to refresh the page often.
Don't forget the snacks and your favorite beverage!

Welcome to a behind-the-scenes look at life on the home front. Jan Wesner is a journalist and Army wife who works in the St. Petesburg Times' East Hillsborough bureau. Jan started writing here in 2006 when her husband was deployed to Iraq, sharing her stories about life with a loved one at war. Now she's sharing yours. Send us your stories, photos, e-mails, questions or anything else related to the war, those who serve, or those who are "standing by." Stop by daily for local military updates, special events, personal stories and other information by, for and about military families.
Welcome everyone!
I hope you all had a great weekend - Mark and I and the kids went down to Ft. Myers to visit my sister and brother-in-law who are there for a week. Bonus: They took the kids to their condo for the night, while Mark and I got to stay in a hotel room by ourselves.
That was a total surprise to us, and we took advantage of it by going to the hotel tiki bar!

Kansas? …Kansas? What the bleep is in Kansas? I know the Big Ball of Twine- wasn’t that on National Lampoon’s Family Vacation?
Well…..welcome to quiet rural life, where everybody knows your name and the place is still the same (Cheers theme song??)
I’m off to relax and catch up on a few tivo-ed shows. I’ll check back with you later.

Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Hi ya'll. Pamela and Chase's greeting was TOTALLY me and DF when he came home this summer.
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Babygirl HI!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:05 PM
I wonder if this will make Chase have some sort of career-changing moment where he decides he can't be away so much anymore.

Pole dancing! I love it - they should all get implants too!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:11 PM
Yep, I thought the same thing mauimere...
Ohhh, I like the idea of Army Wives Gives Back!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:11 PM
Thanks BabyGirl. I guess my backstory: my boyfriend is former active duty special forces E6, now currently a reserve SF soldier while getting his degree. I work in strategic consulting.

Hey, Theresa!
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:11 PM
When we were in Vegas a couple weeks ago my dh almost signed me up for a pole dancing class! I said "OK but what do we say when the neighbors wonder why we have a pole in our bedroom!"
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:12 PM
Ah, Thanks Jan. And thanks everybody for the welcome.
Posted by: Tiff | October 05, 2008 at 10:12 PM
I've been reading Lifetime's message board about this show, and why does everyone hope that Denise and Frank don't get back together?
I kind of like Frank and his neanderthal ways. I'm all about women's lib, but should she expect him to just change overnight?
Posted by: Theresa M. | October 05, 2008 at 10:12 PM
TIff - where did he serve? Mark is SF, been in 1st Group in Okinawa and 10th Group in Germany.
Theresa M - A new wife arrived, who is a lawyer and has no kids. Trevor went to his first rehab meeting. CJ let it slip to Michael that Denise kissed the doctor. Chase came home.
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:13 PM
I took Aerobic Strip Tease at my gym when I lived in NY. I have a new found respect for strippers. It is one hard workout!
Posted by: Tiff | October 05, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Tiff, you're my kind of gal!
Hey we should all meet in vegas some time for a girls getaway!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:14 PM
Frank has definitely grown on me this season.
mauimere - If they asked about the pole, I'd just look at them and smile!
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:14 PM
Nice 3 second recap there Jan!
Awww, Sarah is ADORABLE!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:14 PM

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH Nana to the rescue!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:15 PM
He served with 5th group in Campbell and now 20th group. He was an X-Ray.

Vegas! Oh yea, baby!
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:15 PM

Ohhh that sounds good mauimere! I'm nursing a Bahama Mama wine cooler.
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:18 PM
COL Conner - that's funny for some reason
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:18 PM
I was going to abstain tonight (due to the excessive margaritas I consumed last night) but I just opened a Bud Light.
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Ohhh, vulnerable Trevor! If we didn't love him enough already...
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:19 PM
Yep! That's my M-I-L!!
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:20 PM
Okay, I'm crying. DF has said "It's okay BabyGirl." SO many times to me...
I don't like Mama Burton! She's overpowering and awful!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:20 PM
MIne TOO!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:20 PM
So does this mean Roland is going to be Mr. Mom?
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:21 PM
poor Roland.
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Who was the blind post?
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:21 PM

Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Since I've never been to an FRG meeting... is it like that normally?
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:22 PM
uh oh
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Hahaha. Hot Army Wives Calendar....like that would REALLY be approved by the Commander!
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:22 PM
oooooo I see a cat fight coming on!
DRINK!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Uh oh, there's gonna be a total power struggle between new wife and Claudia Joy!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Didn't an Army wife get into trouble for that type of calendar in Germany?
Posted by: Tiff | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
BabyGirl - I've never been to a "traditional" FRG meeting like this. SF is much different than the "real" Army.
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Well....there are always the "Good idea Fairies" type.
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
A Real Army wife - like it is something unusual....I'm here, pick me!
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:23 PM
Yes yes yes! How many cookies did I bake for my DF while he was deployed? I LOVED doing it. It was so theraputic for me.
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:24 PM
OK, this is making me cry!
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:24 PM
Me too Jan, me too...
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:25 PM
Where's my basket???
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:25 PM
This is making me cry. It makes me so sad that both times that the BF returned from Iraq it was in middle of the night and no one was there. He tells me that this is normal for SF (except for the soldiers with wives and stuff). (is that true Jan?)
Posted by: Tiff | October 05, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Jan - I cried too...but I'm a sap. The episode Oprah did at Fort Campbell....I cried my eyes out!
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:26 PM
I am about to be thrown back into the real Army at Ft. Riley, though. After being away from it for 15 years, ever since Mark went SF ...
He was in the Infantry for a couple of years before that, but that was my last experience with the Big Army or a big Army post ...
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Tiff - yep, that's true. Typically with SF you drop them off at their office and pick them up there. No going to the airfield to see them off ... and it's not unusual for them to fly commercial on other deployments, at least back when Mark was in Oki and Germany.
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Tiff - it is normal SF stuff. I was in shock when he first deployed with an SF unit. I was expecting the big fairwell, etc. I just dropped him off at the Bn...there were no families in sight. Then when he returned, I didn't even know he was coming home, and I was in Ky at my BFF's college graduation. He still brings it up to this day that he came home to the cat!
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:28 PM
DRINK! Lovin this episode
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:30 PM
UGH! I wish Denise would quit using the fact that she "got married young" as an excuse. I'm going to end up being married "young" and I'll have my own. It's getting on my nerves!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:30 PM
lol one day i got an email asking me for my number again because he was back. the only warning i got was him telling me that he had to cut his hair and shave.
Posted by: Tiff | October 05, 2008 at 10:31 PM
And then of course there are those occasional times where you drop them off at work and they don't come home!
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Ok...I think it's one day and it looks like now Joan has lost 20 lbs. If she's skinny by the end of the episode, I'm going to be upset!!! LOL.
Posted by: | October 05, 2008 at 10:31 PM
Ouch that hurts Momma
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Ohhh, Mama Burton is slingin zingers left and right. Send her home already!!!
Posted by: BabyGirl | October 05, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Nice Job CJ
Posted by: mauimere | October 05, 2008 at 10:33 PM
Where are they shopping? This looks like some kind of weird mall.
Posted by: Jan Wesner | October 05, 2008 at 10:33 PM
