Capture fun on the Fourth

070407
Last year's July 4th celebrations ended on a scary note in St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island when  fireworks malfunctioned. John Wetzel, of Treasure Island, captured images of the explosion and provided pictures to tampabay.com. The photo above also was published in the St. Petersburg Times the next day.

Others shared photos of fireworks that went off without a hitch. See this photo from Vinoy Park by Eric Vichich.  Larry McKinnon shared this one from Safety Harbor's display. And Davia Deplanche recently submitted this one of the scene from her Clearwater home overlooking the intracoastal.

Make sure to have your camera handy today at your family BBQ or fireworks display, and e-mail your pics to submit@tampabay.com -- make sure to include your name in the message and some info about the photo. You also can join our community photo gallery and build your own galleries.

Great event! Just one question...why did I notice several police cars running without a driver behind the wheel? It appears to me that during a time of high fuel cost, the police shouldn't just let thier cars run without being in them. Save some fuel please..!
