Reader: 'Crist throws McCabe under the bus'

Gov. Charlie Crist has ordered a review of a state prosecutor's investigation clearing a police officer in the shooting death of  Gibbs High student Javon Dawson

Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney Bernie McCabe on Wednesday defended the thoroughness of his investigation and questioned the governor's decision. And readers are challenging Crist's move as well:

RH says Crist caved on this one. "Where is the support for his State Attorney? Oh no, his support goes to the Uhuru Movement and their demands. ENOUGH!"

Shanequa says she's glad to see that the state is flush with cash to redo this investigation. "If no one at the sceen is talking, why will the outcome be any different? Crist is a Politician and a worthless one at that."

John says: "Unbelievable.  You pay a guy to do a job and for some PC reason the Gov. gets involved."

"Just when you think this nonsense is finally settled, Crist throws McCabe under the bus," Piobair says. "I guess that he'll pander to just about anybody."

The everyday, down-to-earth folks living in that area are probably just as tired of this as everyone else. Unfortunately, the media only covers the likes of Joe Waller who has made a living off of the blood of others.

I have yet to find one parent or parents that will readily admit that their child was wrong, (me included)! The forum shopping by the parents and the reluctance of witnesses to come forward immediately leaves open the relevance of "the Dawson not possessing a weapon, and didn't do anything wrong theories".

The sad truth is, this young man was wrong and it cost him his life.

While I possess more than 25 years in Law Enforcement, I was very optimistic about the outcome. The facts, NOT preliminary facts led to this being the correct decision by Mr. McCabe and his staff. I, have never been, nor will I ever be a fan of Mr. McCabe, however, the facts are the facts.

The politicaly charged current, coupled with an organization (UHRUS) that has no better agenda than to stir up trouble in ANY setting, and a family that did not adequately raise their child, spurs this latent action by the Governor. I am African American, and it is all too easy to get caught up in the hype, than to methodically look for the truth, this certainly would prohibit us from viewing things with a jaundice view.

"We want justice!" is just another way of saying "We didn't get our way the first time."

How would Crist know anything about the incident with all the time he has been spending out of the country and planning his wedding?

Unless the police officer is found guilty the Uhuru's will never be satisfied with the investigation, no matter who does it.

Patrick

This should be interesting.

Charlie finds himself yet another spotlight. This one at Bernie McCabe's expense... Sends quite a message to everyone that holds public office in Florida.
