Amusing photo of the day: Iguana out for a stroll in Clearwater

Iguana_talk

Tampabay.com reader Stacy Brunk spotted this big iguana hanging out in the parking lot of Norton Park Recreation Center in Clearwater. Shortly after she shot this photo, the iguana climbed a tree and was captured by what looked like city workers. "Some of us are still wondering what happened to it," Brunk wrote.

Anyone know?

Ditto head

There is nothing "amusing", "cute", or "funny" about these non-native predators gaining a reproducing foothold in Florida. These animals are decimating native spcies, many of which are threatened already. I shoot them whenever I can, and always kill a number of them when I'm in the Keys where they are ubiquitous. Stop making it look like they are a cutsey harmless animal- they aren't!

Don - did you even go to school? Your spelling, my god a 3 yr old can do better.
Totallyaware - This situation is worse than the python issue, if we don't take care of the pythons, it will be like the lizard situation.
These things need to be killed. I have killed 2 in Oldsmar in the last couple of years.
It is the freaks that buy them then they can't take care of them and let them loose. Maybe should let them eat the tattoed goth freaks that let them loose.

Don from big coppitt key

by the way the biggist one in our naborhood is about six foot long!

Don from big coppitt key

looks the iguanas have gotten half way up the state did you know that there favoret food is bird eggs in the last few years ive seen these larger ones chase and eat birds of all size

Are these things native to FL? If not they need to be controlled or it will end up being another python situation.

If it was someone's pet, they should not have let it run loose.
