Orlando

Police have arrested the man they say shot one person to death and wounded four others Friday at a downtown Orlando office building where he had been fired from an engineering firm two years ago, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

The suspect, Jason Rodriguez, 40, was arrested at about 2 p.m., the Sentinel reported, more than two hours after the shooting. He was taken into custody at the home of his mother about eight miles away from the shootings.

What is wrong with America? First we have what went on at Ft. Hood in Texas, now we have an office shooting with the needless loss of one life right here in our backyard, on the Interstate 4 corridor in Orlando.

Being let go from a job for starters (after all, we got the highest unemployment rate in the country) plus a huge debt load (especially when it is a mortgage and on the brink of foreclosure) and being unable to find employment elsewhere can send a person over the edge. Is this what America is headed for - the brink of ruin thanks to this shattered economy?

One more thing: As to Don't let your child become an Engineer's comment, I agree with you 100 percent.

Don't let your child become an Engineer

Not surprised- I'm a Professional Engineer with over 20 years experience. Have made all the firms I've worked for lots of money with my expertise. Yet, I'm underpaid and overworked (50+ hours a week) and the largest bonus I've received in my career is a whopping $500. Engineering firms treat their employees like dirt.

How many times must it be said? Let the crazy, angry, homocidal, suicidal and sociopathic take this one, simple, pain-saving mantra to heart:
