Psychedelic Furs, Happy Mondays coming to Ritz Ybor

Psychedelic.furs.jannus

Earlier today, Soundcheck was chatting with our wacky Uncle Steve from Stuck in the '80s about the quality of the soft-rock-apalooza shows coming to the Ritz Ybor in August.

Air Supply!

Poco with Pure Prarie League!

The Stylistics and the Chi-Lites, with host Jimmy "Dy-no-mite!" Walker!

In case you're wondering, no, tickets to these concerts are not available exclusively by calling Time Life Music. But good guess.

It seemed weird that a white-hot venue in the heart of Ybor City was suddenly going to be hosting so many dusty old relics from the '70s, and we were all set to write a snarky post about it.

And then we saw this: The Psychedelic Furs and Happy Mondays are teaming up for a joint tour that includes the Ritz Ybor.

A call to Daddy Kool confirms it. The show is Sept. 28, and tickets go on sale this Saturday, $30 in advance and $32 at the door.

Ritz, we take it all back. If you can bring the Furs and Mondays to town together, you can go as AM Gold as you like the rest of the year. Just give us our Richard Butler (above, at Jannus Landing in 2004), and we'll be happy.
