The Obama Crunch Cookie man gets a jingle, courtesy of Shadcore
Perhaps you remember this story about Eric "Cook E Man" Atwater of St. Petersburg, who developed a line of presidential-themed snacks called Obama Crunch Cookies that have been distributed around Pinellas County.
While we can't say for sure whether sales of Obama Crunch Cookies will be impacted by Tuesday's GOP-friendly election results, we do know this: The Cook E Man now has his own jingle, courtesy of St. Pete rapper Rashad "Shadcore" Harrell.
Shadcore and Atwater are old friends, and after reading about Atwater's success with the cookies, Shadcore approached him about writing a song. (That's how inspirational Barack Obama is -- not only does he he inspire cookies in his honor, he inspires people to write songs ABOUT cookies baked in his honor.)
The track begins with Shadcore asking his kids what they want to be when they grow up, and when his daughter, Tasanee, says she wants to be president, he launches into a salute to "the only cookie my famiy eats."
Sample lyrics:
So many of our ancestors died for our freedom
So it's almost like I feel a sense of pride when I eat 'em
Not to mention that they taste terrific
Yeah, this is something I can bait my kids with
(Kids): 'Daddy if we get an A, can we see the Cook E Man?'
I tell 'em like Obama said, yes we can!
He closes with these lines: "This is more than a cookie that he's baking / This is history in the making."
