Mr. Feeney Could Not Be Reached For Golf-Related Comments

Recent press releases from U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney, R-Oviedo, who is under a cloud for his golfing outing to Scotland with lobbyist Jack Abramoff:

On the other hand, this paragraph from an article by my colleague Anita Kumar:

On Tuesday, his spokeswoman, Pepper Pennington, said he would not comment further except to say, "Rep. Feeney is anxious to discuss this matter at the appropriate time."

Comments

Can't help but wonder when "the appropriate time" actually is. Better be sooner rather than later. I learned that one in kindergarten, the longer you take to explain anything, the guiltier you look.

You ae one of those liberal big shots that think taxes are good and love to pay them. Unfortunately when we look we see that you guys usually keep a lot of money in off shore accounts and never give back a tax refund and use every which way to get one. If we could lower real estate taxes we would hve more people being able to keep their homes. As usuall the line between rich and poor is blurred by left do gooders. You never nail down what determines rich and poor. If a family has a little more money left in their budget as a result of hard work you want to take it away from them and distrubute the wealth. As long as it is not your wealth. If you are so concerned about the inequities of a sales tax then why don't I ever hear anything about graduated income tax from you folks. Why don't you push for a federal flat tax?Oh no,not you guys. Extend tax breaks instituted by President Bush, no that's not in your agaenda because it limits the amount of money that people like you and who you support, would not be able to control the money and dangel it out like a fish in front of a trained seal.

About This Blog

ANNOUNCEMENT: WEEKLY LIVE CHAT: Join Howard from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday here on TroxBlog for a live online chat about current events in Florida and the Tampa Bay area.

TroxBlog is the blog-home of Howard Troxler, a St. Petersburg Times metro columnist since 1991. His print column normally appears Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on page 1B.

Born March 19, 1959, in Burlington, N.C., Troxler writes a mix of reporting, analysis, satire and commentary on state and local matters. He considers himself politically unpredictable with libertarian leanings ("I'm for gay marriage WITH gun ownership") but readers routinely conclude he is hopelessly biased against whatever it is they happen to be for. He is married to a woman who has more sense than he does and lives in St. Petersburg.
