A Weird Pro-Growth Bill, And A KidCare Appeal
Time grows short in Tallahassee as the Legislature moves toward a 6 p.m. Friday adjournment. Two of the many issues left are a weird-looking bill on growth management and the fate of the KidCare program. The growth bill, HB 7203/SB 800, would among other things exempt Pinellas County, Tampa and several other places from state review of their growth decisions. If you think that things are fine and local government is doing a good job, then support the bill. Here's what the group 1000 Friends of Florida has to say about it:
Our friends at the Legislature have been busy. Since we sent our last alert out earlier this evening on the damaging Webster Amendment, another equally damaging amendment to HB 7203 / SB 800 has appeared. The Storms Amendment (Barcode 834778) has numerous bad provisions as well.
HB 7203/SB 800 could come to the Senate Floor as soon as Thursday for final deliberation. Please contact your Senator as soon as possible and ask him/her to VOTE AGAINST HB 7203/SB 800 unless the Webster and Storm Amendments are stripped from the bill...
