TroxBlog on vacation until Nov. 26

I've got to take care of some things, and this seems like a fine time to take care of them, with an early Thanksgiving holiday coming up to boot.
So I'll be gone until Monday, Nov. 26.
I hope that everyone has a good Thanksgiving season and that you'll consider coming back by TroxBlog after the break, when we'll resume our weekly live chats and catch up with the news.
Best wishes...

ANNOUNCEMENT: WEEKLY LIVE CHAT: Join Howard from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday here on TroxBlog for a live online chat about current events in Florida and the Tampa Bay area.

I think The Times knew all along. How about it Howard?

Bummer. No Howard and now no Jim Smith in 2008. What in the world are we going to do? Poor Jim. He just got divorced, then had to sell his beloved Creekside property to buy a $500,000.00 bachelor pad. Then his political career is ruined and now he'll be out that real cushy job. I wish Howard was here. he would know what to say.

Dear Howard - I want you to know that you have always been my favorite at the St. Petersburg Times and you are always so on target with your opinions. Maybe you would like to tackle today's newspaper and its most recent article titled "Season's Greenings" - the first page of the Home Section.
While it had many great ideas for all of us who want to become more eco-friendly, especially for the Holidays, there was no mention of the barage of inserts and ads that those of us who still subscribe to a newsprint newspaper get each week. Have I missed somewhere the effort of the Times to become more Green. Maybe a place where we can unsubscribe to this mess without having to discontinue our subscriptions to the paper. This past Holiday paper must have weighed in at 15 pounds. Where is the St. Pete Times's "new urgency as we become aware of climate change and the need to protect this fragile Earth."
Thanks for the time to listen - Ginny Harrell
