Return of the live chat, Tuesday noon
I hope you'll join me at noon Tuesday for the return of our weekly live chat here on TroxBlog. I'll be here in person for an hour or so, taking reader comments and questions about current events in the Tampa Bay area, Florida at beyond.
To take part in or just to observe Tuesday's chat, come back to TroxBlog at noon Tuesday and look for a new announcement with the headline, "The March 11 chat is OPEN!" Click on the "Comments" link of that item to see a page with everything that's been said in the chat so far, and a space for you to add your own question or comment.
As always, if you can't be here live, you can "pre-file" a question or comment to the Comments link of THIS item, just a few lines below. And you can always come back to TroxBlog later to read a transcript of the chat.
Otherwise, I hope you'll stop by on Tuesday.

ANNOUNCEMENT: WEEKLY LIVE CHAT: Join Howard from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday here on TroxBlog for a live online chat about current events in Florida and the Tampa Bay area.
Re: Spitzer
The more vocal you are about moral issues, the higher the moral imperative to keep your own house clean. While I think that there are greater social issues at play regarding sexuality, and commercialization of such, that need to be worked out, you cannot be a crusader for justice, and simultaneously break the law.
Sorry, Elliot. You were an "Untouchable" a la Ness; now you are an "untouchable" a la pariah.
It does lead though to the question...why in the US are we still trying to legislate morality? (Prostitution, gambling, abortion, casual marijuana use, etc.)

The Spitzer incident, and a host of others in kind, should at the very least prove to everyone once and for all… that corruption, perversion, hypocrisy, and a true lack of honor does not belong to any one political party.
Stop weighing their qualifications against the size of their campaign account; stop picking them from commercials, billboards, flyers, and mailers; stop wasting your time with American Idol and start paying attention to our world and its leadership… and we just might be able to elect representation that could return the integrity and respect to what was once the greatest nation on the face of the planet.
I miss America; and I want it back!

ONCE; JUST ONCE… I’d like to see the wife of one of these freaks haul-off and deck the creep on live TV, during one of these obligatory and insincere “I have sinned against yooooou!” press conferences. How she can stand next to the creep and not?… I’ll never know.
I feel for (hopefully, soon to be ex) Mrs. Spitzer. She looks like she had a very bad day leading up to the press conference.

I happened to see $3.92 diesel in Seminole today and the price of oil is setting new records nearly everday. The prospects of $6 a gallon diesel and gasoline have increased dramatically over the last several months ... if these trends continue for several more years (and they promise to do so because the fossil fuels are a natural resource that humans burn up and once burnt it is gone forever except as a legacy of pollution filling the atmosphere).
So will the government of St. Petersburg waste money and time on something so trivial as a new baseball stadium when we really should be building a public transportation infrastructure suitable as a substitute for driving since driving a car is going to become a prohibitively expensive luxury?
Those people who are worried about parking spaces in St. Petersburg ... well, you really don't need to worry. The population of cars in St. Petersburg will drop precipitously over the next five to ten years.
Yet people worry about baseball. Baseball is a sport and it is a frivolous activity which will likely suffer the same fate as recreational shopping and SUV driving.
Our world is changing very quickly. Those who fail to plan for the future will greatly increase their suffering.
