* In case you missed it, Tuesday's live chat on the proposed baseball stadium in St. Petersburg drew a record turnout and number of comments posted, more than 330 at last check. I'd say overall there was more opposition expressed than support, but supporters made well-stated arguments for the possible benefits of the new stadium and a redevelopment of Tropicana Field. When pinned down, I put my support at 5.5 on a scale of 10 -- one poster (probably rightly) characterized me as thinking it was a neat-o idea, with a lot of financial and potential environmental problems. Check out the chat transcript.

* The Pinellas County Commission voted to ban discrimination against heterosexuals, homosexuals and bisexuals -- but not against the transgendered (think Steve Stanton). This seemed to make just about everybody mad, from family-values crusader David Caton to leading human-rights supporter Karen Doering, who called it "not even close to a victory." The ordinance prohibits discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodation -- I like to point out that if my landlord or boss is gay, it keeps him or her from kicking me out just because I'm straight. At the least, the county agreed to keep studying the transgendered issue...

* Bruuuuuuuuuuuce!

Well, Howard, those Morons up in Tallahassee passed the legislature banning the display of bulls balls on vehicles. But they've made it a moving violation. How moronic can onoe group of individuals be on to give the insurance companies ammunition to jack up your car insurance rates for a moving violation if you are caught with that ornament. I'm not condoning anyone have it, but why should someone be penalized with a double whammy by calling it a moving violation when it has absolutely nothing to do with anyone's ability to drive safely. All of those morons should be shown the door. The citizens of this state put up with so much from so little.

Larry, with all due respect, get a life. Your critizing the wrong group. Please direct your wrath towards the low lifes that would put things like this on their vehicles. Why must some Americans show no class. Simply living a life where one thinks that anything goes is not only moronic it is destroying the fabric of this country one stupid act after another. What ever happened to having some class, some smarts, some manners, some respect for others; say like children who see this stuff? So quit yelling at the Legislature. They have fixed the problem because I for one did not like looking at those obscene images myself. I mean enough is enough.

Welcome to TroxBlog, the web-home of columnist Howard Troxler, where he and readers discuss his column topics and current events. The goal here is to focus on the merits of issues, instead of personal attacks or knee-jerk partisanship.

WEEKLY LIVE CHAT: Join Howard from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday here on TroxBlog for a live online chat about issues in the Tampa Bay area, Florida and beyond.

Howard Troxler has been a St. Petersburg Times metro columnist since 1991. His print column normally appears Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on page 1B.

Born March 19, 1959, in Burlington, N.C., Troxler writes a mix of reporting, analysis, satire and commentary on state and local matters. He considers himself politically unpredictable with libertarian leanings ("I'm for gay marriage WITH gun ownership") but readers routinely conclude he is hopelessly biased against whatever it is they happen to be for. He is married with no children and lives in St. Petersburg.
