Predictions are just predictions, and you should always go with your gut, but when I saw you'd picked Tom Renney to win the Jack Adams I asked myself, "does he think the Rangers will win the Stanley Cup?" At least you're consistent. They'd have to, for him to get a single vote.

As far as regular season standings, the Rangers have nowhere to go but down this year, and they've just invested forty percent of their salary cap for the next--eh, not too long; One of these guys is bound to remain tradable for a couple years, and the other will be bought out--in two centers with great character, neither of whom has ever scored forty goals. Maybe Shanahan is still a superstar at heart, but I just saw him on tv the other day and I think the best second line left wings in the East play for Atlanta and Washington. The best second line center, when Tortorella shuffles them right, plays in Tampa Bay, followed by Carolina, then the Rags, and then Washington again.

Will the Rangers make the playoffs? Of course. But will they win the Stanley Cup? Not until they shore up the blueline and get rid of Jaromir Jagr's attitude. When they make their early round exit, Renney will be a cheaper scapegoat than Jagr or the UFAs.
