Which announcer was it that looked at the second round leaderboard, and said that all of the golfers in the top had a chance to win it EXCEPT for Mediate?

as one who hates woods in particular, and golf in general, just the mere mention of "tiger" is too much.

Unfortunately for you, 99 percent of the viewing audience likes to watch Tiger......so it's 1% vs. 99%. Until you're able to pay the sponsors, shut up and enjoy the ride.

Way too much Tiger! I watched most of the tournament muted. I don't like doing that because Johnny Miller is good. Tiger's play as well as his alleged pain was reported ad nausem.

ESPN has done an amazing job with Euro 2008 coverage. The pairing of Adrian Healy and Andy Gray is second to none, and the tournament so far has been spectacular(and the do-or-die games haven't even really started). How about Turkey yesterday: truly a game for the ages. It is the beautiful game, the only sport that matters!!!

Ivan.. you ARE kidding, right ???
The only sport that matters ???!!!!
Can 95% of all America be wrong ???
Soccer is a root canal with no Novacaine.

Tim, if I may take a quote from John Tortorella "Shut your yap!!!!!!"

Tom, you were right on about NBC's coverage of the US Open. I sent the following email to NBC Sports 6/17/08.

The coverage of Tiger Woods has gotten ridiculously cloying, irritating, annoying and tiresome. There are a lot of stories out there about golfers and their histories, challenges, wins and losses, struggles, successes, backgrounds, and futures.

I am so fed up with the sycophantic focus on Tiger, Tiger, Tiger.

NBC's coverage of the US Open was so repulsive at times, that it almost made me decide to boycott NBC.

Tom Jones of the St. Pete Times nailed this subject it in his article in the sports section on 6/16/08. Dan Hicks, usually a good commentator, was a disaster with his coverage of the US Open.

Tom's blog entry contains the entire article from the St. Pete Times. The first section of this article is titled: Worst golf announcer. Guess who?

http://blogs.tampabay.com/twocents/2008/06/too-much-tiger.html

The second part of the article is titled: Best golf announcer. (Johnny Miller)

Read it and figure out that NBC needs to balance its coverage.

I am sure that even Tiger would be embarrassed by Hicks' over-the-top adulation. He doesn't need it, and neither do viewers. I don't have anything against Tiger, but if this type of coverage continues, he will become an irritating annoyance.
