Tom, you should stick to sports and let a President elect do what he does. First of all, it was a tongue-in-cheek opine of the status of college football. Secondly, you're a dolt if you think the current system works, an absolute dolt. NCAA Division I football carries the dubious honor of being the only league in all of sports to not employ a playoff. In essense, what you get is not a Bowl Championship Series but an Arbitrary Championship Series. Last year's "champ" was a 2-loss team. The regular season is where teams position themselves, but the post-season is where the best teams show their metal. The current system is a sham, your opinion notwithstanding.

Agreed, plus he was flat out asked what he would do about getting a college football playoff. You make it sound as if he was asked about subprime mortgage rates and then started musing about the BCS.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that any playoff would be happily Bull free. How's that St. Petersburg Bowl looking now, kids?

Just a FYI, Brian Piccolo died of testicular cancer not lung. His cancer had spead to his lung. Unfortunately, at that time we didn't have the diagnostic testing we do now. If Brian had been diagnosed today he would have most likey been a survivor!!!

Uh, Mr. (or Mrs.) anonymous. We can't all "happily" agree that USF would not be positioned for a post-season spot. I'm not sure where you're coming from on that one (probably an annoying Gator fan who hates the Bulls eating into their local press dominion). I'm an alum who happens to be dissappointed at their utter collapse (not to mention they've been exposed this year as an over-hyped mid-major). Let the program at least become a teenager before you blast them.

I can't speak for anon but it isn't the press that bothers me - its the "fans" who ignore that the program is in its infancy yet brag about being the best team in the state, Matt Grothe is better than Tebow, how they'd beat anyone and everyone, how the Big East is better than the SEC, etc. Then they lose and don't even show up to the games.

That's why a lot of local Gators dislike the fairweathers (not the players or even the alums). Luckily they've been silenced by early November yet again.

I'm amazed that you would accuse USF fans of being fairweather. Where was Gator Nation (Tampa Chapter) during the Zook years?

I was in Gainesville for those years. When I came back to Tampa on breaks, we had plenty of big TGC meetings, just with a smaller amount of car flags as you see now (as opposed to hiding them entirely after the 3rd loss of the season, which is pretty standard from what I see in Bull Country (Fletcher/Florida Ave.) and beyond.

I feel bad for the real, frustrated and loyal fans and not the ones who got whiplash from that two month love affair/smack talking session before reality sunk in.

Give us a break Jeff. I suppose your going to tell me that you have always been a basketball fan too!

Strictly football and baseball here. Happy for Billy D and the kids but could've cared less had they gone one and done again. Thanks for playing.

>>> Secondly, you're a dolt if you think the current system works, an absolute dolt. <<<

just judging by attendance and the rivers of cash coming in from college football (see new espn contract), it's difficult to argue the current college football system doesn't work.

if the current system truly didn't work, fewer people would be going to games; fewer people would be watching games on tv; and fewer dollars would dished out for tv contracts.

college football has never been more popular. you could argue it's more popular than the nfl in some cases.

i don't see where college football is broken.

(college football does have a playoff: it's called the regular season).
