"So," I asked Jim Leavitt at halftime of USF's men's basketball game Tuesday night. "You're going to be in Alabama tomorrow?"
"Yes," Leavitt said.
Larry Antonucci, USF's director of football operations, smiled. "That's Birmingham," he said. "Not Tuscaloosa."
Just a little fun with the Bulls fans, and an excuse to wish Leavitt a happy 50th birthday, even if his only celebration Tuesday was noting, matter of factly, that he wasn't going back to the football office after the basketball game. He's making an appearance with athletic director Doug Woolard in Birmingham and their East Carolina counterparts on Tuesday to promote the Papajohns.com Bowl, now just 18 days away.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
