Links: Dickson at the WNBA Draft

WNBA.com pulls out all the stops in its draft coverage, so Bulls fans can check not one but two photos of USF senior Jessica Dickson, who was selected with the 21st pick by the Sacramento Monarchs. Dickson also did a Q&A with the league's official site leading up to the draft.

And how cool is it that the Monarchs borrowed a photo by the Times' Chris Zuppa (great shot, but I still think the caption should be "What are you doing up there?") ... Check out their story and you'll get chills reading this quote from Monarchs GM John Whisenant: "Jessica was the best overall player available at the 21st pick in the draft." Wow, wish that guy could write a letter of recommendation for me.

No, wait, Whisenant isn't done. Of Dickson and later pick Meg (I'm Marc's sister) Bulger of West Virginia: "We look forward to seeing how they may fit into the Monarchs system." Again, ratchet down that crazy excitement, John.

Talked to Jessica this afternoon, and while she had hoped to be a late first-round pick, she's every bit as appreciative and thankful as you'd expect. She was Sacramento's top pick, so she'll be the best of the rookies trying to make the Monarchs' roster.
