I'm doing a follow-up on a zero-comment post, one that has even less USF relevance, but I thought I'd pass along that those basketball geniuses at the Sacramento Monarchs drafted a player who was not available: West Virginia's Meg Bulger.
Bulger has another year of eligibility at West Virginia and certainly hadn't declared herself for the draft pool. West Virginia issued a statement basically explaining that and saying how they're looking forward to having Meg back for her senior year. My question is this: if your team is only drafting two players from its primary once-a-year source of new talent, how can you completely botch one of those two picks? To take Bulger tells me you (a) never talked to her and (b) never talked to anyone remotely related to West Virginia.
So the good news for Bulls fans is that Jessica Dickson has one less player to compete with for a roster spot in Sacramento. And one of the Big East's better returning women's basketball players is, in fact, still returning.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
ET- she's Marc's little sister. They both went to Pittsburgh Central Catholic (although I think Marc may have transferred in). That school has produced many stars in many sports. I'm sure the Pitt and WVU rosters have at least 3 football players each from Central Catholic. I know this because my high school's girls BBall team won 3 PA State Champs in a row, but Meg Bulger was always a thorn in our side. She was a very dirty player- she elbowed all of our stars as well as Bill Cowher's daughter (Bulger of course got away with it).

Anyone remember Fran Vasquez for the Magic's pick?

Doesn't this kind of move qualify for some type of moronic move of the year award? I know there are enough stupid moves in the world of sports that there should be some type of recognition that either the media or fans get to bestow upon someone who was having a Homer Simpson moment. DOH!
Or since I am such a young pup and don't know about this award already existing, maybe I need someone like you to school me on the more interesting awards out there. I mean, what is really that interesting about a Heisman or Wooden award? :) (shoot, I think USC may take away my alumni card for questioning the Heisman)...
I know about the Darwin Award, but since nobody died, don't think this really qualiifes.
Just my two cents from the West Coast
