Turns out Owls prefer daytime

Nocturnal, shmocturnal.

I'm back to deliver the best news a college football writer can ask for: a non-night kickoff! USF's Oct. 6 game at Florida Atlantic in Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium will have a dreamy 4 p.m. kickoff, according to FAUsports.com. So much for Owls (or game-story writers) only being active at night.

It's the first sign of the Bulls coming out during the day this fall -- the other announced kickoff times are all at night, including a really-at-night 9 p.m. ET kickoff at Auburn. The West Virginia and Rutgers games are weeknights, so their kickoffs won't be changing, and USF prefers a 7 p.m. kickoff on home games, so that leaves Connecticut, Syracuse and Pittsburgh as the most likely options for daytime football.

I've got lots to catch up on, so keep checking back today. Enjoyed the week off but this should be a busy one, with the Big East preseason football media gathering now just a week away in Rhode Island. Questions? Comments? Anything else I missed?

Greg-- Do you have any update on the time of USF Fan Day on August 25th? Thanks

Greg..

What did you miss?

Mike Ford needs a bike and someone to call him a cab.

Who gets caught driving without a license 3 times?

Mike Ford and Paris Hilton.

Welcome back

Is Mike Ford's recent arrest going to cause him trouble with Coach Leavitt or is it excusable enough to let slide?

Amanda, I'll have a post up on Ford later today, but I can't imagine his arrest will impact his standing with the team in any significant way.

Driving around without a valid license or registration isn't a smart thing, nor is missing a court date, but you could argue that neither is as serious an infraction as Ford's teammates committed this spring. They're not facing any suspensions, so I'd be very surprised if he were to. Again, I'll address this in its own post later ...

Welcome Back !

Why is it that every USF at FAU sporting event has to take place in some decrepit facility? I'm from the West Palm Beach area originally, so I've made the cross-state trip in the past - once back in 94 or 95, some buddies and I went to a USF at FAU basketball game, which got moved to, I'm not kidding, FAU's intramural gym because of some gymnastics competition in their regular gym...there were some folding chairs for the players right in front of the pull-out wooden bleachers the fans sat in, we got to sit right behind Coach Paschal and the Bulls. Someone at the game gave us free tickets because we showed up with painted faces and some rather humorous costumes, and after the Bulls held off a comeback by the "mighty" Owls, we rushed the court...still have a picture around here somewhere with Luka Jovanovic and myself...

FAU has chosen its home game against Minnesota to be played at Dolphin Stadium, with the rest of its schedule played at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. I know USF wanted the larger stadium as well, but FAU must think the Gophers can bring a bigger crowd ...

I'm a little surprised that we didn't get Dolphins stadium. I'm still going, but I would've liked to see how big of a crowd we can get in Miami. Never been to Lockhart, so it'll be good to see another stadium.
