Bowden on USF: 'As good as anybody'
USF has the highest ranked football team in the state, but that isn't a surprise to Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, who was asked about the Bulls' new position -- No. 6 in the AP and No. 9 in the coaches' poll -- as his Seminoles remain on the outside of the top 25, still looking in.
"That's about where i had them," Bowden told the Times' Brian Landman of USF's new ranking. "I'm glad to see them up there. They deserve it because they're playing winning football and our winners are not playing winning football."
Being ranked sixth in September is one thing and being ranked sixth in December another, but Bowden said he's glad to see someone from Florida keeping the state's reputation as a football power intact.
"I'd be amazed if they can stay where they are, but they might; they might," he said. "I really like their coach. I like their coaches. I think they're probably as good as anybody, and I'm glad to see somebody in the state of Florida hold the banner up while the rest of us try to get off the floor."

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Classy coach.

Bobby Bowdedn has always been on thing:
Classy.
Even his famous "I don't do parking" response is one for the ages when refering to Chris Rix parking in handicap spots.
Guy has always been first class

Bowden's right. In order for us to stay where we are or go higher we'll have to go undefeated.
It's a tall order but very possible.
We'll be favored the rest of the way.

This may be a strange position, but I'm tired of the media doing things like this.
Asking Bobby Bowden about USF is downright disrespectful. Would you ask him about Boston College's new position in the Top 10? They haven't been there in a while.
Or how about asking Urban Meyer about Steve Spurrier getting SC back into the upper echelon of rankings?
By even thinking about posing the question, the reporter basically renders USF's effort as a fluke. Like "Gee, what do you think of the little program that could?"
Hogwash. It's time for everyone to get their heads around USF as a perennial power. There are now FOUR major powers in the state. Get used to it.

I can of see it as the opposite actually. If anyone should be annoyed by it -- its bobby bowden. Here he is trying to right his own program, and you got reporters asking him about another program down the road.
I thought he handled it very well, considering he just knocked off Alabama.
If i just got done with my football game and a reporter was asking me about another team -- it would get annoying. Imagine what CJL would say if someone asked him in a press conference about Florida's close call with Ole Miss.

I think Bowden has a ballot in the coaches poll, so he's open to questions about any major change in the rankings, certainly one in his own state. It wasn't after his game, it was in his Sunday teleconference, which deals with a bunch of different topics, looking back and ahead and to the polls. I didn't ask the question, but I hardly think it's out of line to have it asked.

if you're going to immitate "cee", at least do it properly...he never capitalizes the letter "c"
sounds like it might be a confidence thing for it
cee = it

Its funnier with the Capital C. Besides, I don't think cee is a UCF fan. I think he's actually an Alabama fan who took it personally that Leavitt told them no, twice and they have had to live in mediocrity since.
No one at UCF is THAT dedicated to waste so much time on our forum.
Anyways, I really like cee because he's the most accurate poster here. You can take everything he says and get rich in Vegas doing the exact opposite.

The only thing we need to do is take care of business from here on out. Don't get complacent, no let downs. Just go out and whoop some a**!

who the hell cares about anything bowden says. we are no where near fsu's level in terms of wins and national titles, so of course he's gonna blow smoke up are behinds. bowden always plays mr. nice guy, because he knows that as long as he is on leavitt's good side, he can steer him into recruiting the crappy 1-star recruits and bobby and continue to bring in the 5-stars that win him national championships and go on to star in the NFL. we need to catch up to the big 3's level, but losing to FAU would not help.

Glad to see you're alive and well cee...
This is so funny. When are people going to stop caring about the star thing? Look at the 1-star DT we landed after the game from Georgia. Gimme a break.

Cee thanks for pointing out some obvious points. Do you have any idea what you are talking about. You have been wrong over and over again. Grow up and be a man and tell us that you are not a USF fan once and for all and get some psychological attention.
Posted by: Jim | October 01, 2007 at 07:18 AM
Cee is an idiotic Gator fan. How 'bout them Gators!?! Tim Tebow for president!
Posted by: DR | October 01, 2007 at 07:52 AM
I dont get you Cee hiding behind a computer trying to contradict everything greg says about the bulls yet you're still claiming to be a bulls fan. You don't have "inside" information on football let alone USF so give it up, what did your 3 reps on J.V. in 8th grade make you a college football analyst now? At least herbstreit and lee corso will rip teams and show their faces you take the coward route posting on SOMEONE ELSE'S blog about how bad the bulls are yet still go to the games...

Screw Nick Saban. what a sore loser. He just can't stand that their is one more Florida school that is better than him. FSU, UF and now USF. Well if I got fired from a team in Miami I'd hate flordia too. I think he just needs to face the facts that his hype by showing up to Bama is gone.
