Matt Grothe has thrown for 213 yards and two touchdowns, the latest a 24-yarder to Amarri Jackson that gave the Bulls a 21-6 lead on Elon late in the third quarter.
The Bulls have moved the ball well in the second half, with touchdown drives of 68 and 64 yards. Receiver Courtney Denson, who had just one catch in the last two seasons, has two catches tonight, including a 27-yard catch on the most recent touchdown drive. Watch the clip of Jackson's touchdown and you'll see some solid downfield blocking from the former quarterback.
Grothe is 20-for-34 tonight, putting him within one attempt of his career high, set against Syracuse last season.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Amarri will be fine. He was trying to do too much early on and he settled down once the game went on. His cousin Mike Ford is going to be terrific. Amarri has a lot to do with Ford staying home.

Little known fact: Amarri means "drop" in Italian. If not, it should.

we were awful tonight.
never seen so many dropped passes.
It was a pathetic effort that will lead to a big blow out loss at Auburn if things are not improved.
I think Grothe believes he is a lot better then he is. His effort was similar to his play at Cinci last year.
A very horrid effort tonight against a team that went 5-6 in 1AA last year.
pathetic.

Looks like they need to work on the passing game a lot more. They should be able to find at least one more receiver that can catch the ball consistently.
I get the same feeling with Ford that I get when I watch Slaton and Ray Rice. Between the few carries he had in the spring game and tonight, almost every time he has touched the ball has gone for fairly big runs.

Question? Is it just me or does it seem like Mike Ford is slightly better than the other backs. I know we were trying not to show to much of our offense, or at least I hope that's what we were doing out there...but, when Ford is in the back-field I get excited about the play to come. It's as though I anticipate something big is about to happen and I hold my breath for a second, so as not to blink when it does. Yet, he sees the ball only a hand full of times. I'm not complaining about tossing the ball around out there, though everyone but Carlton Mitchell and Taurus Johnson was playing hot potato out there, but I figured we would work on our running game in preparation for Auburn next week. As a side note, I just wanted to mention that I believe that George Selvie kid is a decent defensive end...
