No. 6 USF preparing for sellout against UCF
I was just getting comfortable writing "No. 18 USF," so this No. 6 business is going to take a bit.
USF announced Sunday that it's opened an additional six upper-level sections for the Oct. 13 home game against Central Florida after all previously available tickets had been purchased. USF's athletic staff is "preparing for a second straight sellout," according to a release from the Bulls' sports information department. All lower-level seats have been sold.
Interest in USF football has increased at unprecedented rates in the last month, peaking with the program's first home sellout, with 67,018 fans packing into Raymond James Stadium for Friday's 21-13 upset of then-No. 5 West Virginia.
USF has won both previous meetings with UCF, but the close geography has made for a strong rivalry, even though the series is scheduled to end after a fourth meeting next season. With a win against N.C. State and close game with Texas in its home opener, the Knights are one of the top remaining teams on USF's schedule, behind ranked Rutgers and Cincinnati teams and Big East rival Louisville.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Greg,
Any info on how they are distributing the student tickets for this game??

I would think it would be similar to the UCF game, with a distribution time and wristbands, but I'll check on that.

Every game from here out is "must win." LSU will trip and fall somewhere, and USC doesn't look invincible. Wisconsin will also likely fall. If we go undefeated, I think this'll be the either the saving grace of the BCS (we're in) or the final disgrace (1-loss teams ahead of us). But first things first- two in-state schools itching to knock us off. I don't think there will be any mental letdowns though. They know what they can do this season.

Greg..
Your alma-mater allowed Brandon Cox to go 17/26 for 227 yards and no ints.
That is awful. Brandon Cox could be the worst QB in the SEC.
Go Bulls!

Greg,
Will we sell "Standing Room Only" tix for UCF ?
Go BULLS !!!

kevin smith will show us what a real RB looks like.. not some overweight prep school transfer. before we think about UCF, we need to remember FAU can have their way with us. howard schnellenberger knows how to build a program from scratch by recruiting florida stars and developing them through his system. unlike our coach, he doesnt not bring in thugs or the academically challenged. he takes no shortcuts and his UM team is the model of success that we only wish we could follow (although we are not).. those 1980's UM teams that ripped off 4 titles sure wouldnt lose to teams like kansas, that's for sure.

Any word on availability of the 3 game mini plan?
Posted by: TakeItOrLeavitt | September 30, 2007 at 05:59 PM
Yeah -- greg.. 3 game mini-plan.?
Might as well get it now. No chance of walk ups for the rest of the year.
Are they going to offer it?

I love your passion Cee - even in the biggest win of our season, you cry about our mediocre talent. Hey Cee... 120 teams down, five to go... I'll take my chances with the one star recruits.

cee not even your best attempts at ruining this could even come close to succeeding.

I could see it already the national writers not giving much chance for UCF to pull an upset at USF, does this sound familiar to all you Bull fans? It should you guys were not given much chance in the first 2 ranked teams USF beat and this last one most of the country was beginning to get the picture but UCF is due for a landmark win. GO KNIGHTS!

I really wasn't a fan of how they handled the student tickets at the last game. All the ushers were being very forceful about the wristbands. I hope they think of a better alternative.

Brandon Cox actually has more wins than any QB currently in the SEC. He looked stellar last night. He had a couple of bad games, but he isn't a bad QB.
Grothe really hasn't set the world on fire so far this season, but we all know he is going to step up as we make this monumental run to where ever we are going to end up.
As for the rest of our season, I don't think anyone is thinking NC, if we get some breaks, maybe, but I think Leavitt will keep everyone focused on the next game, that's the goal of the season. Win the next game. If we do that 8 more times, who knows?

Any word if this game will be televised?

Poor cee is losing it.
Schnellenberger
is but the next victim.

Cee are you really trying to say the 80's UM teams are cleaner than our program you've got to be kidding me you can't be that dumb. Go down the list of players arrested on those teams for drug possession weapons possession and all sorts of other charges.

USF vs FAU is on ESPNU (formerly known as the ocho)at 3:30.

I think "The Ocho" references are some of my favorite movie references. Tad just picked up ground in my unofficial "favorite blog commenters" rankings.

I just called 1-800-go-bulls, and the only way to get FAU tickets (at least the ones allocated for USF) is by calling...no longer available online.
Same for the"mini-plan"...must call 1800 go bulls.
I will warn you that you will get a recording asking you to leave your phone # because they are receiving way too many calls.
