Ford taken to hospital with rib injury
Freshman running back Mike Ford was taken to a local hospital after Saturday's 22-15 loss to Connecticut with an unspecified rib injury. Ford, who was not able to play on the Bulls' final drive, was taken by stretcher to the ambulance with an oxygen mask over his mouth.
USF officials did not know the severity of his injury or whether he would be able to return home with the team on its flight out of Hartford on Saturday night. Ford had 27 yards on seven carries and had a touchdown called back by a holding penalty in the fourth quarter.
Ford's cousin, senior receiver Amarri Jackson, was on crutches after the game after injuring his right knee during the game. Again, the severity of his injury is unknown.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
I am ready for basketball season. I just can't take another season of the pizza bowl. At least in b-ball we have zero expectations -- that way I can't get disappointed.
ugh.
depressed.

Ari, if we finish this season ranked, it will be the best we've had. I think that there will still be some major positives to take from this season. I can't wait for the draft- that will be a USF high-water mark, too.
We're still in position to make a Jan. 1 bowl (Gator). We blew our chance, for sure. But it is not the last one we'll have. Next year looks to be better than this (provided we hire an innovative offensive coordinator).

i'm with u man i'm just as depressed as you are about our football team... more injuries this game to add to the already deep list of injured players.... i don't know how many more injuries they can take i mean they have injuries everywhere almost on every position..... and who knows they might already be on their third string of guys..... this just isn't their year and they need to just kinda call it quits bc i'm afraid to see what bowl if they make a bowl they get into.... and if they get back into the pizza bowl to me that is not even a bowl
Posted by: staindnlinkinn | October 27, 2007 at 08:36 PM
we are not going to a gator bowl idiot we would look like idiots if we went ....like a high school team they had to play a lot better football as a whole team in order to make it to that and to me that's not even a real great bowl
Posted by: staindnlinkinn | October 27, 2007 at 08:38 PM
Nah, we can still make a great seasonn out of this. We have Cincinnati and Louisville at home (both good probabilities of wins--IF we play well) and Syracuse and Pittsburg on the road (weaker teams than the two we lost to and, hence, also good probabilities of winning). We can finish 10-2. At the start of the season, I predicted 9-3.

boy you are a great fan, staindnlinkinn. why call it quits with 4 games left and still the possibility of a bowl game? I'm sure the team will not miss your support. yea the team played bad and uconn played better and we lost. I 'm dissapointed we did not win, but I am still a fan of the USF BULLS!!
Posted by: steve oneal | October 27, 2007 at 09:02 PM
didn't say i'm not a fan they just always come up short when it really counts.... they could have won that game easy there the last two posessions... and please tell me why leavitt didn't kick and onside kick and take the chance of us getting the ball back in our posession or call three qb sneaks.... i mean come on.... we lost bc of his bad call and of some really bad players that shouldn't be on the team at all .... CEDRIC HILL
Posted by: staindnlinkinn | October 27, 2007 at 09:05 PM
i hope this guy feels real great about himself tonight cedric hill he is the reason why they lost
Posted by: staindnlinkinn | October 27, 2007 at 09:06 PM
Yeah -- i feel you Dave. It is hard to complain about a 9-3 season with wins over Auburn and West Virginia..
BUT --- it was right there. Right in front of us. We could touch the conference title. WE WERE SO FREAKIN CLOSE!!!!!!...
And to lose to Uconn again. Just hurts. And the freakin kicker -- I am so tired of that damn kicker.

Look on the bright side everyone, the Gators lost their 3rd game today!! Woohoo!
Posted by: Amanda | October 27, 2007 at 09:19 PM
so what the gators lost big deal they are a crappy team this year.... i'm just glad we are not going to have a repeat year of ohio state and the gators for once i was like wow usf might be the dark horse to blow everyone away.... nah i just got my hopes up to high on them.... they are just and average team the defense tonight has really even dropped off the map the last two weeks what happened to the posters of george selvie and him being number one he can't even make anymore sacs except for one.... defense has really gone down like they have just given up

OVERRATED!!!
Time to go to the Tire Bowl
Posted by: | October 27, 2007 at 09:30 PM
no time for them to get no bowl this year they don't deserve anything they have already been given too much this year... with a bcs ranking of number two.... they need to just give up for the remainder of the year and start planning for next year.... they have too many injuries this year to do anything and i bet you cincy will crush us next weekend again on national television.... and then they can look even worse and show they belong at the bottom of the list they belong playing back in conference usa... not the big east
Posted by: staindnlinkinn | October 27, 2007 at 09:34 PM
Get better Mike... Some of us realize your potential... Hopefully they take good care of you in Hartford tonight. My prayers are with you.

Thanks for the update Greg... please keep us posted.
Posted by: Terry Lucas | October 27, 2007 at 09:38 PM
Ford is clearly our best RB.
Posted by: Ari | October 27, 2007 at 09:57 PM
Wow, amazing he is in the hospital. good thing it was an away game, or else Mike would not be able to get to the hospital. All available slots in the emergency rooms have been filled up locally with many broken legs. Seems people are jumping off the bandwagon in GREAT numbers. Please everyone, single file and get off in an orderly fashion.

How do you miss a 24 yard FG Delbart?
HOW!?
You missed a 19 yard field goal at Auburn.
What's the deal bro?
Stop making rap songs and start making some stupid field goals.

You let the powerhouse UCONN beat you. OVERRATED. No more rankings for USF.
Posted by: jt | October 27, 2007 at 10:37 PM
USF SUCKS.
Posted by: JP | October 27, 2007 at 10:38 PM
Looks like USF is going to the toilet bowl again.
Posted by: Randy | October 27, 2007 at 10:39 PM
The USF kicker is horrible. Looks like your not going to win the Big Least
Posted by: Tebow | October 27, 2007 at 10:41 PM
Delbert "Drop Kick" Alverado is surely not a Lou Groza nominee.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
the guy is SO bad. It is just comical.
Delbert misses 20 yard field goals. So funny.

I guess they should have left Houston Hess at receiver. I think he can at least catch the ball. But I guess he isn't one of their favorites!!
Posted by: Steve | October 27, 2007 at 11:02 PM
This is great! I love the rhetoric where USF is a national powerhouse and anything less than an NC is a wasted season. How many bowl wins does USF actually have? Not to mention how many they've been to. This has been a great season for the bulls. You hould have been happy with the too major wins you got(Auburn WVU). That might not happen again for a few years.

cedric hill was having a great game until that drop, he's not the one to blame. too many places to lay blame, i'll go with that sh!tty naked bootleg, way too risky in a situation like that at least have a te drag or something. to put the entire season on a call like that when we had 2 opportunities to run it up the gut is inexcusable.
Posted by: | October 27, 2007 at 11:21 PM
It is really funny when Alverado comes on to the field. My buddy and I call each other up on the cell phone and say:
"Oh Boy, Here We Go."
I can't believe how bad our special teams are.
Only guy on the team that is reliable is Jessie Hester. Guy is a stud.

cedric hill has given up his spot on the team.... wow my wish has been answered.... he told coach leavitt after the game and coach leavitt accepted it.... that's awesome goodbye cedric hill you will be missed ...... not really

What a picture of Hill in the SPTimes--his dejection is more than any of you could heap on him. I wish the non-USF fans would just go away, and I ask the rest of you to remember that this is a GAME and that these kids are doing the best they can. We could have won this game, for sure, and we could find probably twenty plays, which if different, would have made the difference. Sometimes the calls seem doubtful, sometimes the execution. We're 6-2 and have a chance to be 10-2. I think that's incredible.
