Leavitt on Jim Rome at 12:35 Tuesday

Fresh off a win against then-No. 5 West Virginia and an incredible jump in the national rankings, USF coach Jim Leavitt will be on Jim Rome's nationally syndicated radio show at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Leavitt also is scheduled to appear on ESPN2's "First Take" -- that's the new "Cold Pizza," for those of you not regularly watching ESPN in the morning -- on Monday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Smart of USF to get Leavitt on Rome just minutes before his weekly news conference, so he'll already be in, relatively speaking, a good mood to give actual answers to questions. If he gives Rome 14 "I'm just focused on FAU" responses, it could be fun, but I imagine he'll be well-behaved for the Jungle.

Lots more notes to come today, so keep checking back ...

I hope that all this media attention, good as it is, doesn't either distract CJL or take time that should be given to preparing the team.

I really doubt it will...they want to go all the way!

I must admit that when I saw the mohawks, I said to myself..."it went to their heads"

I think Jim Leavitt is a great coach, however; he needs some coaching on dealing with the media. Some of his quotes are not the best. I would rather have a good football coach that a celebrity that has no clue about football.

I'm guessing that this has always been a part of his plan for USF, so I'm sure he is prepared and focused.

"No don't ask me that. Anything else?"

"Some of his quotes are not the best."

I will check on this. Thanks.

Is there a free tampa station that plays Jim Rome? All I can find is his paid website stream.

The quote on ESPN2 was classic: "It's not that I hate the media"

Except it is. And we like that he hates the media. And not in that melodramatic Mike Gundy manner, but in a manner that makes him seem like he's above the fray and impervious to the inquiries of mere mortals.
