Owls strike back, trail 28-23 late
Florida Atlantic isn't going away just yet. Owls quarterback Rusty Smith hit running back Dilvory Edgecomb across the middle for a 47-yard touchdown, and after a missed two-point conversion, the Owls trail USF 28-23 with 6:42 to play.
FAU went for two, trying to get within a field goal, but Mike Jenkins' knocked down Smith's pass at the goal line. Smith has completed 20 of 40 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.

Not that its an excuse, but it is hard, maybe impossible, to play inferior teams with the same amount of intensity as playing against an evenly matched or tougher team.
