UConn game set for ABC regional, 3:30 kick
Great news for you Bulls fans who haven't yet ponied up for cable TV: USF's Oct. 27 game at Connecticut has been picked up for regional broadcast on ABC, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m.
Again, regardless of how it may impact you guys as fans, daytime kickoffs are a great, great thing for deadline writers. They rock. We're unabashedly excited about this news. It's taken every ounce of restraint not to use multiple exclamation points and/or CAPITAL LETTERS (!!!) in this post.
The No. 2 Bulls have a national ESPN audience set for Thursday's game at Rutgers, and a decent chunk of the nation will be able to watch them against the Huskies. USF hopes to avenge a tough 15-10 loss in 2005, the last time the Bulls visited Rentschler Field.
And for USF students who want a place to watch USF-Rutgers on Thursday, the Bulls are hosting a watch party at the Sun Dome. "Bulls Frenzy" will start at 6:30 p.m., with the men's and women's basketball teams participating in the big event. Just a warning: If more people show up for that than they do for the men's basketball home opener against Cleveland State next month, we're going to point that kind of thing out. That won't be a problem, though, will it?

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Oh NO!
At UConn on ABC… again?!?!? Voodoo 7 (or was it 5) is going to hunt us again.
It better not snow this time.

1) It was Voodoo 5.
2) It won't be nearly as cold.
3) We have much better talent on both sides of the ball than we did in 2005.

Joey, you took the comment RIGHT from me.
I'll never forget crying in my Papa John's pizza (ordered at halftime when I thought we could pull out the win) when the final seconds ticked off that cold, cold day.
We had better redeem ourselves...

We should tell everyone who shows up to watch the Rutgers game at the Sun Dome that the price of admission includes returning to watch the BB game. :)

Will this be on the ABC broadcast in Tallahassee?? or is it another trip to Beef o Brady's for me?? Go Bulls!!

Greg-
Do you know if this "regional" coverage will extend all the way over to Orlando? Last time I had to order it payperview, and it was by far the worst $20 I ever spent. Having said that, I would do it again in a heart beat, but would prefer not to.

Hey! Another Tallahassean! I am wondering the same thing regarding regional coverage. Will it extend all the way up here to the panhandle or will another ACC "slugfest" knock it off the slate? Curious displaced Bulls need to know...

No chance that the basketball opener outdraws this event. NO CHANCE!!!!!!!
Saint Leo must be licking their chops.

What exactly are the basketball teams going to be doing prior to the start of the game? I wouldn't be surprised if the watch party had a higher attendance than the home opener.

Not sure where to put this, so I'll write it here- Jesse Palmer just said we don't deserve be in the top 5 but we deserve to be #2. That's a UF education right there! Actually, I think it exemplifies the unjustified bias against us.

So I seriously doubt it'll be on in Seattle... GO BULLS!

Greg,
just to let you know that non-students can be accompanied by a student to the watch party. Don't want it to seem like non-students aren't allowed.
Tallahassee people, I doubt you will get the game on ABC considering you are a ACC market. Looks like Maryland/Clemson for you guys.

There are 9 of us going to the game. I say why not. Awesome weather and Big East Football. $200 non stop flights. We won't even have to rent a car.

Why would you not have to rent a car to get to Piscataway?

Thanks for the quick response time on the Tally dilemma Miles. Now I've just got to figure out far west or east I'd have to travel in order to find that magic market that will cover the game...

Tallahassee, in da house. We should have some game meet up and just take over a bar.

ABC will release an affiliate map next week that will show which games are in which areas. I'll get an update out when that happens ...

I'm going back to G.A. after the Dave W. joke last week. Computer just stores the login info, that's all ...

Tallahassee Bulls!! I'll be watching at the Beef o Brady's in Killearn on Kerry Forest Pkwy. Go Bulls!!
Posted by: James | October 16, 2007 at 10:32 AM
Any decent sporting establishment will have this on satellite. I usually prefer places a bit more rowdy than Beefs but I'll keep that in mind.

Wooo Hoooooo! CT Weather will be a factor in this one, late October in Connecticut is often...not pleasant. Also the fans should be up for a ranked opponent, particularly since a Husky win = a first ever top 25 ranking for us. I just hope the game is on in Jacksonville, because I would prefer to watch it from home over being at a bar with UF/UGA fans getting ready for that other important game involvin game. Still, I think this is going to be a great and very close game that could go either way. These two defenses are the best in the Big East, and both offenses leave a bit to be desired. Sooo.... UConn 73 USF 4. ;-) or possibly somewhere in the 17-14 area. But really, this should be a fun one to watch if you like seeing athletic QBs run for their lives, because they both will be.
