Louisville suspends starting cornerback
Louisville's pass defense, already a weak spot in the Cardinals' 5-5 season, has taken another hit.
Junior cornerback Rod Council has been suspended from Saturday's game at USF for a violation of team rules, according to a release from the school's sports information office, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported Monday.
Council, who has started all 10 games for Louisville, leads the Cardinals with two interceptions and has 29 tackles this season. His backup, according to the team's official depth chart, is junior Travis Norton, who has four tackles this season.
With Council playing in every game, Louisville has the Big East's worst pass efficiency defense, ranking 108th nationally. The Cardinals have allowed opponents to pass for 249 yards per game, with five opponents scoring 38 points or more this season.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
That helps, but I hope the USF coaching staff doesn't see it as an opportunity to pass on every play. I still like the balance of throwing and running.

I agree with Steve, USF should get out of the ridiculous spread offense and play Ben Williams as a fullback blocking for Mike Ford. Williams is also a great receiver out of the backfield but Ford is clearly the best runner. Remember the success when we had Ponton blocking for Hall. In the 3 receiver set, Edwards should be replaced by either Mitchell or Hester. Leavitt, forget the guys that have been around, the best players should be playing.

I'm not sure how Edwards went from having as many receptions as he did last year to the fall off he has had in touches this year. He seems to find a way to get open, but doesn't seem to get the looks.

UofL doesnt need him. grothe will find a way to get it into the hands of UL's DB's. it's kind of what he's known for around the conference: boneheaded turnovers.

"....play Ben Williams as a fullback?" What I would like to see is USF bring in Richard Kelly who is a true fullback in the Mike Alstott tradition.
I'd rather see UL have all their "stars" on the field. I want to see USF win the game playing the best players, not looking for the easy way out.

Grothe should have a career day against the UL defense.
Matt Grothe for the Heisman!

evan landi,
here are the stats for landi.53 of 115 in passing, for 714 yd. 6td and 2int.
one player i like in broward county is quintin robinson of coconut creek. he has 36 catches for 812 yards. 7 touchdowns and a 22.6 average per catch. the schools here don't have game programs, so it is difficult to come up with more info. however, he a senior wide receiver, who also plays db. he seems to be about 6-3 and 180.
he is a real playmaker, who can win those jump ball passes. q. is very flashy and a fan favorite. i know nothing about his grasp of fundamentals, behavior, or grades. hope we pick up some ol soon.

The skin head should be able to run the ball against UL, there defense is one of the worst in college football, the big least.

Mama Bull.......
"....play Ben Williams as a fullback?" What I would like to see is USF bring in Richard Kelly who is a true fullback in the Mike Alstott tradition.
So you want to have Richard Kelly carrying the ball and not being able to block a soul?
That is the Alstott tradition. I think you meant to say in the Mack Strong or a real Bucs fullback by the name of Lorenzo Neal.......Those guys are actual blockers.

You guys rag Cee because he tells it like it is. With Lvill's pass coverage being crap, this give a young guy a chance to prove himself. Grothe, who is one of the stupidest QB's in BE, is gonna get eaten up! MMMM PIZZA SURE DOES SOUND GOOD!
