Senior center Kentrell Gransberry is back to his old self, with a first-half double-double to lead USF to a 34-27 lead on Rhode Island at the Ocean Center.
Gransberry has 10 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman forward Orane Chin isn't far behind with eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Gransberry and Chin both have five offensive rebounds, and the Bulls are outrebounding the Rams 26-21. Point guard Chris Howard already has five assists and five points, and the Bulls already have more bench points (13) than in their loss at Buffalo.
Gransberry could be in for a big second half, as Rhode Island power forward Will Daniels already has three fouls and starting center Jason Francis had to be helped off the court with what looked to be a left knee injury. Forward Kahiem Seawright has 10 rebounds for the Rams, but he's 0-for-4 from the field.
Just did a lap around the arena to do an actual headcount just before halftime, and I count 195 people in attendance. That doesn't count myself, the only USF beat writer here, unless you count Times correspondent Mike Camunas, who's covering the tournament for the Associated Press. I'll have to look up the last time USF played to a crowd anywhere near this small.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Score is 69 RI - 58 USF with 2:30 to go.
Looks like a loss

Wireless is, pleasantly, free. They didn't even put up a fight. I'm a little disappointed.
