Bulls still alive for Big East tourney ... for now

I'm trying to squeeze in a post on how USF's women's basketball team is still mathematically alive for the Big East tournament, but Pittsburgh's off to a 9-2 start here, so don't get too excited.

USF is 3-11 in league play, two games out of 12th place with two games to play, and they have the tiebreaker advantage on Villanova, so there's still a scenario where the Bulls make it. (Make that 11-2, Pittsburgh).

To get in, USF has to win tonight and in its finale at Marquette and Villanova has to lose at Louisville. But if Georgetown also finishes 5-11, there's a three-way tie for 11th, and each team would be 1-1 within the three teams, so it'd be a complicated tiebreaker to figure out which teams go home. If Georgetown could upset Pittsburgh in its finale (hey, if USF can do it), that would put USF in as the 12th team if everything else played out.

OK, it's 12-2 Pittsburgh now. I just wanted to put it out there that Hartford was still in play.
