Video highlights of USF recruit Teague

I can write about these USF basketball recruits all day, but in terms of getting a sense of what a player can do, I'm better off deferring to the video world, which allows you guys to watch and come to your own assessments.

Gene Teague, a 6-foot-8, 295-pound power forward/center from Vineland, N.J., is making an official campus visit over the next two days, and you can check out a 1-minute, 41-second highlight clip of him here at a site called Brightcove.TV. You'll see him called "Eugene" at times, but his father said he prefers Gene, or "E.J." for Eugene Jr. ... Looks like the video's about five months old, but should give you a sense of what Teague can do. It's listed as having about 800 views before I posted here. Keep checking back for more updates ...

As Ratso from "The Midnight Cowboy" would put it, Not bad, not bad...

The link wants me to download flash player.

I can't.

I think I have seen this guy before anwyays. I remember meeting him at the NJ Turnpike Roy Rogers just outside New Brunswick.

Guy was putting extra pickles on his Big Bacon Classic.

I am positive that was him. He made his meal "Go Large" and everything.

I told him to lay off the fries because "you can substitue a salad?"

Nice mid-range... i question his ability to finish strong... but of course that is just a 2 min video.... Def could help us out in non-conference... but in BE play.... kid looks like he may have his work cut out for him

Kid looks slow, not very athletic. Can he rebound?

Ari, I'll admit I laughed. Can't say I've eaten at a Roy Rogers in maybe 15 years, but pretty sure I made a comment about how I hadn't seen Trigger in a few days.

Well true that a short clip can't tell you a whole lot about a player, but it did show that the young guy is not some fat sloth which I was worried about.

I saw a nimble big guy that has good hands and a soft touch. The handles was impressive for a man his size and he looked comfortable at 18ft from the basket, although I doubt Stan and Hipsher want him that far out shooting.

Now what people have to realize is USF is not recruiting this guy to come in next season and be a savior or Harangody.None of the Big men that USF signs next month are going to be expected to come in and average 15pt and 10 rebs as first year players.

USF strength will be with it's backcourt namely Jones, Verdejo, Mercer, and a couple of signees. The bigs of USF will simply be asked to defend, rebound, pass, catch and finish. If they can do that next season then USF will be right on target where Stan said he wants them in his 2nd season.

By the looks of it, that guy is not 6'8". More like 6'6", probably. Gotta' allow for the usual size inflation.

The guy makes the same move 85% of the time.

Could develop into a nice role player. Didn't look explosive, but has the body and good handle and hands.

He has moooves. I wonder how effective they will be against college defenders. When there isn't a ton of space to work with.

If he can rebound and defend he will work. On the other hand he could be no worse than that crew we had last year.

RR is right- he isn't 6'8"

He's Zaronn Cann. Crap.

Greg,

You remember Roy Rogers?? Place was awesome.

They put your fries in a gun holster.

Haha Roy Rogers! The best part of Roy Rogers was the condiment salad bar. You could put as much lettuce, pickles etc you wanted on your burger. Probably not very sanitary, but sure taste good. The gun holster fries were pretty cool too.

Ari, "The big Bacon classic" is from Wendys and "Go Large" is from Buger King. get your info right.

i dont know about this guy, he looks really slow

This is a guy McCullum would have recruited.

This kid is really 6'8". He is a beast inside. Freshman of the year in the Big East. NBA after his second year.
