Bulls fall to UCF 3-2 in NCAA softball
USF's softball team opened play in the NCAA Regional in Gainesville with a 3-2 loss to Central Florida, sending the Bulls into a difficult path to stay alive in the double-elimination event.
A 2-run home run by JoJo Medina had the Bulls up 2-1 entering the sixth inning, and USF got a key out at the plate, but the next batter, Allison Kime, tripled in two runs off starter Courtney Mosch.
The Bulls play Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in an elimination game against Georgia Tech, which lost 7-2 to host Florida on Friday night.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
I love how you go out of your way to call UCF, Central Florida. Nope Greg, your not biased.
LOL

Stephen, how is that a bias? We call USF USF because they're here and we write about them every day. We write "Central Florida" on first reference, then UCF thereafter. It's just a matter of the newspaper's style. We'd do the same with "Florida International" or "Florida Atlantic," which become FIU and FAU after a first reference. There's a familiarity with USF among our readers that allows us to call them that on all references.
Pal, you're really reaching if the best you can do is ding me for that.

Do you do the same for FSU?

G.A you should call them Florida Technological University and then refer to them as FTU. Even better, just refer to them as "That other state school near Oviedo"

We write Florida State on first reference, then FSU thereafter. Check out today's Bobby Bowden story as Exhibit A. Anything else?

Greg,
What are you going to say at the Peabody Awards banquet??
I think I need to be mentioned. Something along the lines of "I would like to think my readers, especially Ari Hinkelberger for transforming my blog...."

you guys really need to get a life, even you Auman! I've never seen a journalist get into as many pissing matches as you do. You do understand that you're spending most of your time arguing with 19 year old idiots dont you???

Greg helps them learn, at least a little. Most don't know there are such things as style manuals.
I'd have thought they'd be pleased with the win, and doubling so with Greg acknowledging it.

I don't think of a pissing match. I try to respond to everything I can here, regardless of whether they make a lot of sense of not. I think interaction encourages people to come to the blog. You're kind of proving that point in a way.

Good for adverstising and readership.
Right up Greg's alley. His boss would be proud.
