Morning rains have delayed the start of the Big East baseball tournament, which could impact the scheduled starting time of tonight's USF-Notre Dame baseball game, initially set for 8 p.m. at Bright House Field in Clearwater.
As of 11:10 a.m., the opening game between Louisville and Seton Hall had not yet started, which pushes the start of the tournament back at least two hours. There's a four-hour stagger scheduled between the second and third games, which would allow the league to move closer to the original start times, but continued rains could complicate things. Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Game 1 in the books. UL beat SH 12-3. I am sure game 2 will start shortly. I am guessing if all continues to move along, Our game will start around 9pm.
Go Bulls!

Greg, The scheduled start time for game 2 is 1:00pm but you have to allow for three hours of game to be played. New scheduled gametime for USF is 10:00pm

There's four hours between the 1 p.m. scheduled start and 5 p.m. game. They don't need four hours between those games. They'll get some of the two-hour delay back there if the weather holds up. That's all I'm saying.
No word on how late the Big East would start a game, but there's definitely a desire to keep the tournament on schedule. The weather also makes winning tonight that much more important, as tonight's loser has to come back and play at 1 p.m. tomorrow, potentially on 12 hours of rest or less.
I'll get back with an update as soon as I know more ...

Greg, There is no 4 hour stagger between the 2nd and 3rd games. There is only a one hour break between game 2 and game 3 if the 3:00 hours alloted for each game is kept on track. This would put USF at 10:00pm. Is there a time restraint on how late games can start?
