USF's Gransberry not taken in NBA Draft

Thursday night's NBA Draft came and went without any good news for former USF center Kentrell Gransberry, who had hoped to be only the second Bulls player drafted in the last two decades.

Gransberry wasn't among 60 players selected -- neither was Hillsborough Community College's Keith Brumbaugh, who opted for the draft instead of playing major-college ball at schools such as USF. But the Big East's leading rebounder for the past two seasons is likely to earn a contract to play summer-league ball with an NBA team, giving him a chance to work his way onto a roster this fall. Expect news on that end as early as Friday. ...

Further proof of how ridiculously good the Big East should be this season: from all those teams, only four conference players were drafted. There were just three in the first round, with West Virginia's Joe Alexander going eighth, Georgetown's Roy Hibbert going 17th and Syracuse's Donte Greene falling all the way to 28th; Georgetown's Patrick Ewing Jr. went in the second round.

I highly doubt KG'll be drafted. I expect him to go to the summer league but not sign with a team. He'll lead the D-League in rebounding, but he needs a lot of work (especially on his body- he's the fattest guy in the draft. I liked him for the NBA a lot more when he was at least 6'9").

I can't believe someone would take the Brumbaugh risk. Like his story on SI.com, he'll have to make it in the summer league (which he won't).

Anthony Randolph just got picked. He's going to be the worst player from the lottery- way too skinny. If only McHugh was 6'10"...

Hilarious news on Brumbaugh.

Now will Ari either cry because his guy is not play at USF or the NBA, or will Ari laugh himself into a stupor because Brumbaugh made a very bad choice?

Sorry Grans, too many big men :(

Where do you think Gransberry and Brumbaugh will end up? I think they both will make a NBA summer league roster and get a chance to showcase their talents there. Hopefully, the play well enough to make a team, my guess is Gransberry goes to Indiana and Brumbaugh to the Hornets. If not, the NBDL is not such a bad option for a year or two. Both need to polish up their games a little bit and work on their bodies.

Any word on Jordan Crawford or Dago Pena? Coaching situation? Next year's targets? Keep us posted GA....

I said it before, Gransberry is just a mediocore player. He will not make any splash in the NBA. Thats why I say USF is a better team than last year. Brumbaugh should probbly play in Europe. His game fits the European league better. That will get him in the NBA. Grans is just not tall enough.

G.A can handle the recruiting part but I will clear up the coaching situation.

Made a call to a friend and I got this response, Heath was set to let go Hansen but Hipsher's strong flirtation with FAU caused Stan to back away.In his mind you couldn't have two assistants leave after just a year with a new team and so many newcomers joining. What Stan has done is micromanage his assistants recruiting more closely and making sure everyone is on the same page this time around.Remember while Heath and Hipsher wanted Hansen to go hard after Simmons last fall, Hansen instead put all his time and energy into the recruitment of Pitts resulting in us not getting either one.So as of now the staff will remain intact for at least another season.
