Eagles sign Williams to practice squad
Former USF cornerback Trae Williams, cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday, has been signed to the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles, his agent, Ken Sarnoff, said Sunday.
Williams, a fifth-round draft pick of Jacksonville, is the second USF graduate on the Eagles roster, joining former Bulls safety J.R. Reed. He'll be allowed to practice with the team and can be signed to the team's active roster in the event of an injury or an active player being cut.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Not a good place for him to be since the eagles have 3 top flight corners....although Sheppard might be traded
A signing by the Lions or Bears would have been good because he is more suited for their system

I just something really interesting. Phil Steele, who really likes us, picked yesterday's game to be 55-7, and almost got UT-Martin's rushing total right.

I think any place is a good place for Trae at this moment. After getting cut from his first NFL team, any home is better than none.

Im surprised the Jags cut Williams. A quality CB on a team with little depth at that position. Theyre very thin after Mathis.
Williams will certainly find a new home in the NFL. If not with the Eagles, then with another team.

Actually the Jags have too many defensive backs... Derrick Harvey's holdout messed it up because they ended up keeping too many DE's and 6 WR's... Brian Williams and drayton florence are good depth and brian witherspoon is an unherd of guy from a small college who apparently ran a 4.1 at his pro day...

Williams can be signed to any team from the Philly practice squad, so the fact that he is on any practice squad is all that matters.
