The last football game scheduled between USF and Central Florida, on Sept. 6 in Orlando, is about 2,000 seats away from being sold out, UCF associate athletic director Joe Hornstein said.
UCF has limited ticket access to USF fans, making single-game tickets for the Bulls game only available to season ticket holders. The Bulls are believed to have sold out their allotment of 4,000 tickets. UCF had an announced attendance of at least 41,000 for all seven of their home games last year in the Knights' first season in Bright House Networks Stadium.
Hornstein said UCF will decide Friday how to handle any remaining tickets, and the school is looking at an on-campus ticket drive for the USF game this weekend as UCF opens its season against South Carolina State.
The two schools have met in each of the last three seasons, with USF winning all three games, including a 64-12 win in Tampa last year.
-- Former USF linebacker Ben Moffitt, trying to make the Houston Texans' roster as an undrafted rookie, cleared one hurdle Tuesday when he wasn't among five players cut to reach the NFL limit of 75 players. Moffitt still faces a much bigger cut this weekend, when teams must reduce their rosters to 53.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
I love how UCF fans talk more crap than anyone...and yet they still manage to lose to us 3 years in a row. make that 4 after saturday.

ugh oh! USF didn't sell their tickets and had to return 500+ of them! I guess usf fans don't like watching their team play!

If UCF wins one of those three games and is conference champ again, I will be very impressed. If UCF had beaten any of those three teams last year with Kevin Smith (and yes, I know you beat N.C. State) I would have been impressed.
You're on the record with it here, so you can come back proudly when/if it happens ...

Turd, great point on the stadium and the mascot, all valid and extremely creative on your part.
I heard they made UCF’s stadium out of popsicle sticks.
And by inflated you mean voted on by the press all over the country.

USF/BC/Miami: I guarantee we will win at least one of those games, and be conference champions again.
And I guarantee USF will lose their bowl game again.

1234fif - if the old "facilities" argument held any water, UCF would be at the top of a BCS conference.
Too bad that that an OCS doesn't translate into on-field successes such as wins over ranked teams, more than 2 wins over BCS teams in 20+ years and a coach that always tells the truth.
UCF < FAU < USF

It must be tough for USF to be an inflated preseason top 25 rank, and still be renting the stadium they play in on saturdays. Maybe you should change your mascot to the Bucs also, then at least it would match the logo at midfield. Until you have YOUR name on the side of YOUR stadium, I have no respect for you.
May Tampa burn to the ground.

We did it to UF in 2001 for hoops. Smart marketing on part of USF then, and smart on UCF now.

Hey it's a good strategy on UCF's part:
You want to see the marquee game on their schedule, you got to buy the season ticket package.
I was at the Texas Game and that stadium definitely deserves the nickname of the "wok".

Interesting how UCiF is already announcing their attendance for the entire year at 41K.
Are they just taking for granted that the entire student section is going to be filled up? Hell....they had a 'great' year for a C-DOA team, and they were not filling up the stadium.
I can't wait to see the pictures of a half empty erector stadium but an announced 45K sell out. This is laughabl considering how they used make fun of USF's attendance.

Just a larger crowd of UCF fans for UCF to lose in front of.
Posted by: Bullshark | August 26, 2008 at 04:41 PM
That's right...the newness of their stadium coupled with the absence of Texas fans buying season tickets for the one game as made their fanbase shrink.
If the UCF game isn't a sellout, that shows extremely poorly on their athletics marketing and strategies.

You can keep the tickets away from our fans but you can't keep the Bulls out of the end zone!
