South Florida's 26-21 loss to Pitt on Thursday showed ramifications in the polls on Sunday. USF fell to 19th in the AP polll and 20th in the USA Today coaches poll. The Bulls were No. 10 last week.

we'll bounce back. Just gotta rest up this week and get ready for the cuse.
The new reality in college football is parity. It has actually been with us for a couple of years but there has been a big resistance to accept it.
How else does a I-AA beat a ranked team, and all the unranked go on the road and beat the ranked. It is just a symptom of fewer scholarships and more good atheletes leveling the playing field.
Caching and preparation are big factors now as the talent level evens things out.
As a USF fan since we founded this program, I have seen how we look when we are not well prepared and the intensity level is low.
Pitt had both on us last week and it will happen again if things don't change.
I can't let injuries be our excuse for last week.
We looked confused and listless and to hear the ESPN sideline crew our team sounded fustrated and out of position.
Let's also settle on a back or two, the RB by committee serves no one.
To even think the Bulls were really a #10 team is rather silly. For anyone to honestly believe that the Bulls are anywhere close to being in the same league as the Sooners or the Trojans is laughable.
AL sounds like a UCF fan impersonating a bulls fan to bring us down. I don't think the Bulls are a top five team, but if they win out they are definitely a top ten team.
Get real...look at the current rankings (Sagarin) of our conference opponents
37 Cincinnati
39 Connecticut
42 South Florida
46 Pittsburgh
51 West Virginia
69 Louisville
105 Rutgers
121 Syracuse
You're dreaming if you think the Bulls are among the ten best teams in college football.
I'm a big bulls fan...season ticket holder... I don't think Al's off base here, he make a good valid point. No need to infuse the UCF banter...I think he's being a realist...Heck, just a few years ago we were aching to be recognized...we're still in the top 20...with a lot of work to do. Look at these other top ranked teams....could you imagine us going up against a team like Missouri in a bowl at the end of the year the way we've been playing? You though the game against Oregon State was bad...at least we had some decent db's in that game We're right where I think we should be.
We got beat by the Ducks, not the Beavers. Anyways, good point. We don't need to be nationally embarrassed anymore. We are almost always a team that can hang with anyone. We're hardly ever blown out. That game was a fluke that we got blown out so badly. However, if we don't bring our A game to games like that, it's gonna show. The national recognition is nice, as it'll make recruiting that much easier. Though, our players will change though the years, typically gaining more and more talent, but our coaches and coaching philosophies will generally stay the same. That's where we need some work. In any case, we should be pleased that if we do win out, we'll be right there in the big east and in the national picture for a BCS game, or at least the Gator Bowl or another quality bowl. In the meanwhile, let's heal up and play it game by game.
TNM # 190 W 56-7
FIU # 101 W 17-9
UCF # 114 W 31-24 OT
KU # 44 W 37-34

PITT # 46 L 21-25
Fluke! Hardly, we were out classed by Oregon was a true top 5 team who lost 3 games after their Heisman candidate QB went down with a torn ACL. They had enough time before the Sun Bowl to prepare their 4th string freshman QB to lead the team to victory.
Oregon 2007:
Oregon 47 Houston 27
Oregon 39 Michigan 7
Oregon 52 Fresno St 21
Oregon 55 Stanford 31
Oregon 24 #6 California 31
Oregon 53 Wash St 7
Oregon 55 Washington 34
Oregon 24 #9 USC 17
*Oregon 35 #6 ASU 23
** Oregon 24 Arizona 34
***Oregon 00 UCLA 16
***Oregon 31 Oregon St 38 OT
***Oregon 56 USF 21
* Dixon Injured
** Dixon left game 2nd Q
***Dixon did not play
There is a whole lot about this Bulls team that could be solved with the addition of a real offensive coordinator instead of one that is just offensive? Everytime he put Grothe in the backfield alone with no one to block for him Pitt blitzed and we never had time to let a play develop. It happened over and over again the entire game. It would be nice if someone on our offensive coaching staff would have adjusted for it. We have the talent on offense, now we just need someone able to formulate a game plan. It's painful to continue to watch the plays this guy calls and the formations he uses. We have good running backs. How about we try soem formations to use them?
I wasn't saying that Oregon beating us was a fluke, I was saying that the final score was a fluke. The truth is that we simply don't play well from behind. Sometimes we can come back, Kansas, sometimes we work all game to come back and can't, Pitt. If we played 10 games against Oregon, I bet we'd lose the majority of them, but not by more than 10 points. They just don't lose by much when they lose...they fight for everything. Losing sucks, but I just don't want to have a team of quitters like last year's bowl game.
Sorry...you're right Kev...I mean Oregon. Agree with you...we don't lose by much when we lose...they've got to put this behind them and not let a Cincy or Louisville sneak up on them...the do tend to "play down" to the competition at times.
Gentlemen either you have short memories or are somewhat new to USF football.
2006
USF 8 Louisville 31
2004
USF 9 Louisville 41
USF 13 Pitt 43
Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and admit that the other team was a better team...Oregon was a better team than USF last year. For starters, USF doesn't have the depth that the top 10 programs in the country do.
we'll bounce back. Just gotta rest up this week and get ready for the cuse.
Keep winning and don't worry about the polls.
Go Bulls!

Fair enough. I don't want us to be ranked that high because it puts too much pressure on the team. I would like to be ranked at the end of the season.

Also ranked #20 in the Harris poll.

Face it the Bulls really aren't anywhere near being a top 10 team this year.
Posted by: Al | October 05, 2008 at 10:16 PM
Thats about what I expected. I figured 20 or so.

You win some, you lose some. They need to rest up for Homecoming - and we're good to go.
GO BULLS!

The bye week comes at the perfect time. The Bulls need to regroup after the lackluster performance against Pitt, and compete for a wide open Big East
GO BULLS
