One quick note: Just as the Bulls have the week off, I'm taking some
vacation time while USF has a break in its schedule. I'll be back
posting here again on Sunday, Oct. 13 -- sorry for the long time
between posts, but I'll make up for it once things get going again. We'll post my followup story on the game in a bit.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
That is being positive, usfmike! GO BULLS!

i'll take university of florida trolls over ucf trolls any day, that's progress right?
Posted by: usfmike | October 05, 2008 at 02:54 PM
And you'll read what we write, Rob the troll. I guess Texas has a trademark on bulls and bull horns. Oh yea, your stadium looks like it was built 100yrs ago and added onto by a bunch of do-it-yourselfers. I enjoy the nice stadium and convenient parking we have here in Tampa. When and if we ever decide to have an on campus stadium it will be a nice one. GO BULLS!

No, Texas fans use their index finger and pinky extended to make the "hook 'em horns" sign. And no, Don Corleone, no one's claiming UF invented the wave. But at least we have an on-campus stadium...which is older than your entire (alleged) university. I'll "troll" where ever I want and you'll read what I write.

BTW, in the Texas "hook 'em horns" sign, the fans use their thumb and pinky ('cuz they're LONGhorns...get it?), whereas USF's sign is the index finger and pinky. Slight difference, I know, but both teams have bulls for mascots so what do you want?

all of the suDDen I meant to say...and I guess kickoff is one word also
Posted by: billyd | October 03, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Why is that every time USF loses all of the suden we are fair-weathered or bandwagon fans? So we sucked against Pitt...Florida sucked last week and FSU and Miami...you better not even say a disparaging word. Whether I or we or anybody likes it we are still young. What people hate about us and in turn are jealous over is the fact we can even be having this debate right now. USF has risen so far in so litle time instaed of having a more drawn out rise to fame. It's not up for debate- we are not sneaking up on anyone anymore for a reason. Ari H seems to have called out a few people and with good purpose. We were flat all over the place all game but I must admit when I saw that kick off go out of bounds at the end I knew JC himself would not allow us to pull this one out and I guess Ari did too. How can we absolutely dismantle NC State and then drop trousers on the field like last night? That said, I loved the Bulls when I saw our first ever 80 to 3 victory and I love them still. It is also why I am still having reflux tonight. Go Bulls and God help you Syracuse.

Wow, trolls really hate being called trolls. The Gator chomp, aka clapping your hands in unison, very original…next thing you’ll say is that the Gators invented the wave. Stick to your own boards troll.

Have a good trip, Greg. I was thinking of you having to post your story last night with that 7:30pm start.

Sorry Rob, but i wasn't kidding... i ENJOYED my birthday present...sorry you didn't:)
Posted by: Chris | October 03, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Chris, me too! Worst birthday in a long while. USF just don't schedule anymore games on my B-day in the future!
Posted by: Rob | October 03, 2008 at 12:58 PM
Pretty slick G.A., jumping ship right after the Bulls pulls off The Big Choke 08, this should pretty much end any romance that pollsters and coaches have with USF's "meterioc" rise to football Cinderella status. To Don Corleone...i've been saying it from day one...OVERRATED,BIG EGOS,UNDERCOACHED...feel free to go back and read G.A's blogs. You know the hardest thing about last night USF loss for me?? Having to wait all the way till Sunday to see how far the Bulls from in the ratings. I'm sure they won't drop completely out ..this week. Oh and it was my birthday yesterday ..THANKS FOR THE PRESENT USF!!!

We've been doing the hand sign since the 70s. It started during basketball games. Now that USF has a lot of TV time, people around the nation think we just started doing it.
Posted by: To Rob | October 03, 2008 at 11:50 AM
Don Corleone, are you talking about Bulls fans who wrote on the Gators blog this past Sunday? They kind of come out of the woodwork with the whole "USF is the best in Florida" crap and the nonsense about Grothe and Tebow. See, it happens to us all. We didn't think Ole Miss had much of a shot and we got beat. I'm sure USF fans didn't think Pitt had a chance either and when you're not on your game, you can lose. By the way, how come USF fans and its athletic dept. continue to use Texas' "hook 'em horns" hand sign? Y'all do know you stole it from Texas, right? It's one thing to do it in the stands, but to market season tickets with a stolen tradition? That's pretty lame.

Tired of our kicking game sucking total crap.
Alverado thinks its a good time to give the team the ball at the 40 after we take the lead
what a joke that game was last night
Posted by: Ari Hinkelberger | October 03, 2008 at 11:24 AM
I think USF fans need some time to cool off. It's just one game. Have fun on vacation!
Posted by: Falko | October 03, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Good idea GA. Now that USF has joined those with one L, you can avoid all the mindless, idiotic trolls that come out of the wood work when ever a teams falls a notch. I always love how these guys know every thing after the fact, but they never have the stones, cojones, or guts to say anything beforehand.
Posted by: Don Corleone | October 03, 2008 at 11:20 AM
Before you take off put up the story about your conversation with Coach Heath. Also you should have something on Clanton, Riley, and Philmore that most USF fans don't know about.
Everybody saw that FB lost last night, there is no mystery to uncover or stone left to be unturned. There are a lot of stories that will come out with the basketball team in the next 2 weeks. Potentially good or bad.

Glad you're getting some down time. You deserve it. I'd like to say that the average blogger will not be on this week anyways, unless to complain and write off our team.
Pitfall used to be one of my favorite games, you've ruined it for me. lol
Can you title your final blog: "Stop reading your own press clippings!" It clearly seemed that way from the get go last night. People will say that Pitt was the team that needed to come out to prove something...but we had just as much, if not more. We could also call the blog: "All the skills, but outcoached."
Obviously Tyler Roberts doesn't possess all the skills to get the job done, but we've got as much skill on the team as anyone in the country. There are too many mistakes to point out, however I pray that CJL doesn't railroad the team without pointing fingers at the coaches and at himself as well. The fact that we still had a chance to win, though it felt like we were losing by 3 touchdowns all game, tells you that it wasn't PITT's doing, as much as it was our own UNdoing. So undisciplined. I really thought we would learn from last year, but I was made to look like a fool again.
Pitt-i-ful.
