Just to recap a bunch of big plays that probably won't matter in the final game story ...
-- A 42-yard field goal attempt by Maikon Bonani was blocked by Pitt's Greg Williams.
-- On the ensuing play, Pitt tried a direct snap to LeSean McCoy, but defensive tackle Terrell McClain -- perhaps in his first play back -- forced a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Kion Wilson.
-- USF, attempting a 46-yard field goal on fourth-and-4 from the 29, tried a fake, with holder Grant Gregory taking off but getting stopped 3 yards short of the first down ...

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
So should we give credit to USF's defense for Pitt's offense touchdown? I mean, they were pretty much their entire offense.

Worst of all is that we're getting outmuscled. Pitt is getting a good forward push with its offensive line -- as seen on this long second-quarter drive -- and is quickly filling gaps when we try to run. Too many silly penalties for over-aggression -- the red-zone penalties midway through the second quarter and the roughing-the-kicker penalty on Pitt's first punt. As for the fake FG ... it was amazing; we kicked when we should have gone for it, and went for it when we should have kicked.
We're overpowered and undisciplined. This is how to lose.
