For the second time in a month, former USF linebacker Ben Moffitt's stay on an NFL practice squad has been a short one. Last month, it was the Bucs adding and quickly dropping Moffitt, and on Wednesday, the New Orleans Saints released him, just one week after signing him to their practice squad.
Former USF running back Andre Hall faced similar struggles in his first season as a pro and still was able to latch on with the Denver Broncos, where he's stayed the last two seasons. Moffitt has had chances with three NFL teams, having been signed after the draft by the Houston Texans and cut in preseason.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.

So, for guys who bounce around from practice squad to practice squad in two-week bursts, how do they get paid? Pro-rated contract amounts?

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this...Ben just isn't NFL material...I wish him well in the real world.

Whoa, dude. How long before Moffitt sets a record? He's gotta be close.
