After four high-scoring home games to open the season, USF's women's basketball team had its first challenge of the season -- one of the biggest it will face all season -- against No. 3 California in the Virgin Islands on Thursday. The result? An 85-55 loss, which saw the Bulls score 43 points less than they'd averaged in their first four wins. A more realistic test? Seeing how the Bulls bounce back, with a quick turnaround for games Friday and Saturday against quality teams from Texas Tech and Iowa. If the Bulls want to show something in the nonconference season, they need at least one win between the next two games ...

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
They had a horrible shooting night which could mean Cal played great defense, or, USF just had one of those nights. Seeing their percentage behind the three point line, I'm believing we just had an altrocious shooting night. I don't believe Cal challenged that many shots. We are not 30 points worse than Cal... but we definitely have a ways to go to close the gap. Let's go ladies... Rebound from this games and give the Raiders and Hawks' a post-Thanksgiving L!

Taken out behind the woodshed right there. The best thing is they do get to go right back on the court, so they won't have to dwell on that type of beatdown to long.
