AFCA names Selvie first-team All-American
Junior defensive end George Selvie is USF's first two-time All-American, as the American Football Coaches Association has honored him as a first-team All-American.
Selvie's numbers are significantly down this year -- five sacks and 11 tackles for loss -- though that's a function of him facing consistent double-teams from opposing offenses and being limited by a sprained ankle. Selvie became USF's first consensus All-American last year when he led the nation with 31.5 tackles for loss and was second with 14.5 sacks.
Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes and receiver Percy Harvin were the only other AFCA first-team All-Americans from a Florida school. Cincinnati punter Kevin Huber was the only other Big East player honored.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Congratulations George!!!
Come back for your senior year though!!

Congradulations George
If you decide to leave for the NFL we all understand and we can't wait to see you be a big player in the NFL. I wish we had more players like Selvie at USF not just player quality but also caracter and leader type

I'm glad the coaches know they have to triple team Selvie. With his numbers it is amazing he got this recognition.

The double-teaming is not the only reason his numbers are down. The Bulls clearly lack the guidance they were getting from last year's D-line coach. IMHO, the ripple effect from that has exposed the secondary.
