We've written that former USF signee Khyri Thornton is headed to Southern Miss after not being accepted into USF, and there's another name familiar to Bulls fans who will be in Hattiesburg this fall.
Thomas Edenfield, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound offensive tackle from Jacksonville who spent the 2007 redshirting at USF, said Monday he will play at Southern Miss this fall after he finishes classes next month at the College of the Sequoias, a junior college in California.
Edenfield, who will have three years of eligibility at Southern Miss, didn't practice with the Bulls in spring 2008 to focus on academics, and was off the team by April of that year. He played one season at Sequoias and said he'll get a look at right tackle at Southern Miss.

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Live in the present Dave! Current events! I guess you like that song....Glory Days! Geez, you guys are so easy! like Greg pointed out, you took USF academic rejects! PERIOD! What don't you get about that? Bowl games? Bowl games? I love this one! Our 3rd best team goes to a game of equal value as your conference champ! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! Your "champion" gets to go to the liberty bowl and get SMACKED around by the 7th or 8th place SEC team! HAHAHAHAHAHA! 4-1 against USF? Hold on to that, it's all you got! HAHAHAHA! Winning seasons? Yea like you are playing the same schedule as UF, Clemson, VT and FSU!!! HAHAHAHA! How many bowl games has SM been to compared to how long they have played FB? HAHAHAHAHA! David, those are all true, but Southern Miss is taking two kids that didn't make it into or at USF.

Southern Miss gets USF table scraps? LOL, hahahaha. Southern Miss has gone to 7 straight bowl games, 11 out of the last 12 years. Southen Miss currently has had winning season's the last 14 years.Only Clemson, Florida, Virginia Tech and Florida State can claim 14 or more consecutive winning seasons. And Florida State is is about to be removed from list, due to NCAA violations. Also, Southern Miss is 4-1 against USF. And how many bowl games has USF been to?????

Stole a guy? He picked USF and only after they reject him academically, does he RESIGN himself to the fact that he has to settle for S Miss. HAHAHAHAHA! Glory days....passed you by....glory days! Keep living in the past....it's all you have! HAHAHAHAHA! Gravel tailgating? You have never been to Ray Jay. Grass parking lots! Geez, amazing that they come here and make fools of themselves.

Don't be mad because Southern Miss stole your cookies. Its funny listening to you Tampa folks talk like your team has the tradition of Miami or Notre Dame. Need to look up the record between USM & USF - it's 4-1 good guys, so it's no suprise to see these guys make the trip to the Burg.
Also, while I'm at it..tailgating in gravel is no fun..come to Hattiesburg to get the taste of the real deal.

Why is it just because USF rejects a couple of idiots you guys start taking shots at other schools for signing them. USF has signed the biggest collection of idiots in NCAA history over the past ten years. Get over yourselves!

Yeah, UCF has always wanted to be like USF. I heard UCF was going to start an outreach/recruiting program out of the Orange County Jail, unfortunately the Jim Leavitt Foundation beat them to it. Nobody wants to be the embarrassment that is USF.

Martin, hard to say. He left, so at least one out of two, and if he left while not academically eligible, that'd be another. The folks that know aren't about to share anything ...

How many APR points did Edenfield cost USF?
Posted by: Martin | June 30, 2009 at 08:49 PM
USM... just because I cringe when I remember people calling us SFU.

Another USF reject to SMU...

Edenfield seemed like a good prospect- he has the body type of a tackle.
Southern Miss- USF's table scraps. I guess UCF has been replaced as the school most wanting to be like us.

Dan, Edenfield was gone last summer, so his scholarship has been available to USF for a full year now. This news has no direct impact on USF -- just an update on a former Bull.

Well at least we get another scholarship to use this year. If we have a Big East championship season this year, we would have to have a very solid recruiting class so scholarships aren't a bad thing.
