I'm finishing up my final day covering the NBA Summer League in Orlando for NBA.com, but there's still enough USF stuff happening to keep the blog busy during my downtime here.
-- Talked on Thursday to the 76ers' Samuel Dalembert, whose sister Melissa will be a senior center on USF's women's basketball team next season. Sam has seen his sister play in a game at Villanova, and I asked him if his schedule would allow him to get to Tampa -- he said the issue isn't the busy rigors of NBA play, but ... bugs. "When I'm down in Florida, I stay over here, where there's less mosquitos," he said.
-- More than 60 high school teams will be on USF's campus this weekend for the ever-expanding Sling & Shoot camp, which brings together a ton of recruits to get a close look at the Bulls' coaches and facilities. There's high praise for the Sling & Shoot from recruiting guru Larry Blustein in the Miami Herald. One addition to the weekend in the past year is a Lineman Challenge that will bring the big guys on campus in addition to the quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs ...
-- ESPN.com blogger Brian Bennett has been doing a "Fresh Faces" feature on each Big East team, and today he gets to USF, writing about four newcomers: defensive ends Jason Pierre-Paul and Ryne Giddins, linebacker Sam Barrington and offensive linemen Jamar Bass. Hard to leave cornerback Kayvon Webster off the list, but Bennett is right that USF could have a handful of first-year players in key roles this fall. That upside, paired with USF's established stars in Matt Grothe and George Selvie, could be a winning combination if the newcomers don't act like newcomers by the time conference play starts in mid-October ...

Times sportswriter Greg Auman, who covers USF, will post news and thoughts on the Bulletin and we invite your participation in the comments area.
Stevo, Even G.A. knows you're a trouble maker!

Thanks, Greg. Are you insinuating that there is a possibility that I might not exibit proper behavior at a sporting event? Not me? Haven't you always known me to be a mature and responsible acting (HAHAHAHA) adult? I cracked myself up with that one!

Got me thinking when there were no such thing as blogs. Those were some tougher days back then.

"Glad to help, guys, and thanks for coming back as often as you do. It looks good when the traffic to the blog is still strong at a time of year when it probably shouldn't be ...

If we didn't keep coming here, we'd be foaming at the mouth on the floor going threw withdrawal.

Greg is the 7 on 7 open to the public to watch?

Canales had a great interview this morning with Mike Pepper on 1010 and it got me really pumped for football already! The Sling and Shoot should be great this weekend and hopefully it and the Lineman Challenge will really get the coaches and players acquainted with each other. I think these things are great recruiting tools.

Great job GA. I met Sam Dalembert at the USF / Villanova game two years ago and he was great, very approachable and cheered loudly for his sister and the Bulls!
Go Bulls!
