I was there last night, Greg. I saw you over on press row. They let me and a couple of my buddys move down 1 row and sit in the courtside seats...very comfy. My friend asked Rivas before the game how he was doing and I believe he said he might be back by the louisville game.

G.A.

Rivas is out for a while recovering from surgery on both his legs. Looks like he'll be back either in late December or January ...

Ken

I just read your live blog. You mentioned Rivas--where was he?

Ken

I was there, too, Greg. Looked promising.

Just watched the game and must say that this is a very much improved team. None of the old players looked impressive, except for Jones and Mercer. Gilchrist, I think, shoots too much from the outside.

As for the new players, Famous, Fitzpatrick, Dumars, and Noriega were impressive. What impressed me the most about Famous was his passing and running the floor. I was able to watch video of Fitzpatrick earlier this year and saw how dominant he seemed on the floor in HS. He seemed like a man amongst boys, especially down low; he is not a terrific shooter, but he does everything else well at 6'8" with long arms.

We have a much better shooting team with Dumars and Noriega looking good. Famous is a significant upgrade over anything we had from last year and Fitzpatrick is certainly a significant upgrade as well off the bench.

I am not saying that Famous and Fitzpatrick will dominate the Big East, but with those 2, the shooting of Dumars, Noriega, and Burrell, and Crater coming on in a month, this team is much improved this year and could very well have a winning season this year, especially with a likely scenario of not having more than 1 or 2 losses as Big East play begins.
